Polycom and Ericsson, on the World mobile congress which passed in Barcelona (February, 2012) showed the solution which allows operators to offer the enterprises of any value available and compatible video service of the high definition (VaaS) and also the unified communication services. This solution will enter the market thanks to joint work of Ericsson and Polycom. The Ericsson company will act as the main system integrator for all infrastructure VaaS components.
The new solution of visual communication for providers will be based on architecture of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) from Ericsson, to support video transmission of content of high definition, using the endpoints for video transmission and a voice of RealPresence (TM) and RealPresence(TM) Platform from Polycom representing a complex set of the software for the organization of video conference.
The IMS system from Ericsson allows operators to use a uniform core for the organization of video conference, voice transmission for Voice over LTE technology (VoLTE), services based on Rich Communication Suite (RCS) and upgrade of networks of the fixed access. The new Ericsson Media Resource System system gives to operators worldwide the chance to organize a safe high-quality video conferencing with high resolution and a binaural sound of complete range. Mobile media gateways of Ericsson it is possible to upgrade, include in them the Media Resource System function and by that to reduce operating costs of operators. Besides, the unique approach used in the Polycom RealPresence platform based on open standards provides possibilities of interaction with hundreds of applications of unified communications, applications for business and social networks, integrating all communications at the enterprise.
The complex offer on the basis of a cloud technology will give to operators the chance to provide to the clients as new services, and to expand the range of already available services at the expense of convenient, reliable and scalable offers of VaaS for different devices. In addition, the solution includes Business Communication Suite - technology of Ericsson for unified communications with which operators will be able to enter on the new markets, to increase profitability from each subscriber and to increase competitiveness. For an available monthly payment small, medium-sized and large enterprises will get access to the reliable and high-quality services of a video conferencing of high definition provided for any types of devices including smartphones and tablets of employees out of the work/house, notebooks, desktop PCs, conference rooms and systems with effect of presence.
Tests of the joint solution will begin in the middle of 2012, and it will come to the broad market by the end of 2012.
