Vasily Anisimov is the Russian entrepreneur, the owner of Coalco.

Assets

Ferrous metallurgy (Metalloinvest), real estate (Coalco). Owner "Moscow plant "Kristall" (alcoholic beverage products). In "fortune" from Badri Shalvovich Patarkatsishvili "came" into such large companies as the main Georgian cellular company Magticom, the well-known plant on production of the Borjomi mineral water, etc.

Status

Takes the 30th place in the rating of the Russian-language version of Forbes "The richest businessmen of Russia — 2011"[1]. Vasily Anisimov's fortune is estimated in 3.6 billion dollars.

Biography

Education

In 1977 graduated from the Almaty Institute of the national economy (The Kazakh economic university).

Career

In 1982-1986 director of ORSA of the Kalinin NPP.

From 1986 to 1989 — the director of Moscow Roskhoztorga.

In 1989 created the Trust company which received the status of the special exporter selling non-ferrous metals (it is renamed into Trustconsult later).

In 1992 Trustconsult began to trade in aluminum, and started purchase of shares of aluminum plants later.

In 1994 registered in Switzerland and created developer Coalco company. The geography of its activity covered the USA, Russia and Kazakhstan. The Russian portfolio of the company contained ten projects of a residential and commercial real estate in the center of Moscow with a total area about 1.5 mln sq.m. In addition it possessed 23 thousand hectares of the earth in Moscow area, on 3 thousand hectares from which it was supposed to implement the Big Domodedovo project (12.5 million sq.m of housing and 1 million sq.m of a commercial real estate)[2].

In 1995 set control over a share block by Bratsk Aluminum Plant, Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter and the Achinsk alumina refinery.

In 2000 sold aluminum plants to Renova.

In 2005 becomes Alisher Usmanov's partner in Metalloinvest holding.

Suffered the first losses in crisis: at the end of 2009 it was forced to leave the GVSU "Center" construction company which was purchased in January, 2008 for building of Big Domodedovo. The contractor worth $300 million departed for debts to Sberbank.

For the same reason Coalco in 2010 gave to "subsidiary" of bank — Sberbank to the Capital of 50.01% in the Crystal Towers project on Hodynskaya Street. Total amount of open Coalco of credit lines in 2010 was about $2 billion, and among the main creditors of developer Sberbank and VTB appeared.

In 2010 conceded control over the American development company of Coalco New York with a project portfolio on 400 thousand sq.m to her top managers. Redeemed controlling stakes of 11 alcoholic enterprises of Russia which were earlier entering into Rosspirtprom from VTB (to VTB got on account of a debt of "ATN" in the amount of 5 billion rubles)

At the end of spring of 2011 Coalco closed the transaction on sale of the share to VTB Capital — about 50% — in office center "Belaya Square" (111 thousand sq.m) constructed on Lesnaya Street and in the similar project "White Gardens" (105 thousand sq.m).

At a boundary of 2011-2012 VTB sold 20% of shares of Metalloinvest for $2.5 billion. Sberbank acted as one of applicants for a share in Alisher Usmanov's company.

Social and political activity

Since March, 2010 — the president of Federation of judo of Russia. Coalco International — the main sponsor of Federation of judo of Russia.

Family

Interesting Facts

Took part in scandalous judicial trial between Boris Berezovsky and Roman Abramovich in London on which acted as the witness. In court of London and Berezovsky tried to prove the right to a part of the stocks of Metalloinvest belonging to Anisimov[3].
