The F1 group virtualizes a part of own IT infrastructure

The Siberian branch of JSC "MegaFon" successfully completed the first project stage on implementation of complex services of virtualization for F1 Group. Within long-term cooperation providing IT infrastructure of holding with a uniform complex of the innovation communication and computing services is planned.

Solution

Within the project three servers belonging to F1 Group are transferred to virtual environment and started at capacities of data center of the Siberian branch of JSC "MegaFon". Thanks to virtual servers of MegaFon F1 Group had an opportunity to refuse own server of the special software and the file server, thereby reducing costs for support of the IT equipment.

"The existing solutions of data center of MegaFon selected by the Novosibirsk companies and the organizations from other cities of Siberia clearly demonstrate the highest potential of technologies of virtualization and a method of reduction of capital and current costs on IT infrastructure. At a meeting with F1 Group we made the joint decision on start of a pilot project on replacement of a part of key servers of holding by virtual machines of MegaFon without suspension of work of key business processes of our customer", – the head of service on work with the business market of the Siberian branch of JSC "MegaFon" Natalya Tymoschuk commented.

"This project for us new, we thought of a possibility of significant economy of means through virtualization of servers only recently. Now we see that the technology perfectly works: our company uses only an end product – a computing resource, and all the rest undertakes MegaFon, – the Chief information officer of F1 Group Sergey Boldyrev reported.

Result

Process of connection and ensuring complete operability of systems took several days. Now processing and storage of data arrays of F1 Group is executed with observance of the highest regulations of security, a possibility of instant increase in resources and professional technical support by profile specialists of MegaFon.

Further cooperation of the companies will be multi-profile: transfer to virtual servers of MegaFon of other services of F1 Group, organization of the innovation service for work with plastic cards and also provision of services of high-speed mobile and fixed connection.
