The Lavazza company prepares coffee mixes by means of solution SCADA

The company Lavazza performed capital reorganization of the existing management system to take advantage of technology and to optimize a production cycle, to receive bigger control over production processes with the help SCADA- a packet PcVue.

Task

When time for replacement of operator control panels with production lines came, selected Lavazza for implementation of SCADA packet PcVue from ARC Informatique company. This software was selected, proceeding from assessment of functionality, flexibility and the moderate price. Besides, using PcVue it was easy to organize interaction with other existing systems at the enterprise and to perform smooth integration.

Solution

PcVue interacts with the programmable logic controllers (PLC) by means of KEPServerEX of the OPC server from Kepware Technologies company which provides data exchange between the client of the software supporting DDE interfaces and a PLC of production of Siemens. The integrator developed the web interface using services of the Web client in PcVue and the Microsoft NET environments.

The problem of integration with SAP at the corporate level is solved. In comparison with the competing SCADA systems, the packet of PcVue was simpler in use and provides high performance.

Details

During roasting and after process of mixing PcVue collects data from nearly 5 thousand points (quality, a batch, weight, etc.). A system manages distribution of raw materials at the plant and the movement of partially processed materials. Process of packaging collects 1000 data points on field buses (a status of devices and control instruction) and data of management (product codes, quality, routing, etc.). It manages integrity of data and the sequence of packaging on all production line. It includes the system of marking of elements, storages of units and tracking of process of filling of a packet for distribution. A system interacts with other systems so that to have an opportunity to manage a format of labels, check of weight of products and trace of production data for sending for corporate file servers.

Result

Using SCADA packet PcVue, the Lavazza company managed to simplify production processes, to increase control and to configure applications, having provided finally flexibility and capability quickly to scale process depending on requirements.
