Rostelecom put RDPC of the Organizing committee of the Olympic Games in Sochi into operation

Rostelecom put into operation the reserve data processing center (RDPC) of Organizing committee for preparation and holding the XXII Olympic winter Games of 2014 in the city of Sochi (the Organizing committee of Sochi 2014) for ensuring failsafe functioning of key information systems of the Organizing committee of Sochi 2014 in Moscow and Sochi.

The RDPC is one of crucial elements of uniform information and telecommunication infrastructure of Games and provides full redundancy of the systems of e-mail, the ERP system of MS Dynamix, the MS OCS system (Office Communications Server), the workflow system DocsVision, in also directory services of the Organizing committee of Sochi 2014.

The equipment which is a part of RDPC of the Organizing committee of Sochi 2014 is located on the areas of a data processing center of Rostelecom in Moscow.

"Within implementation of this project we paid special attention to working off of interaction of the "Olympic" command of Rostelecom and Organizing committee of Sochi 2014 in case of emergency situations. The action plan for disaster recovery of working capacity was for this purpose created (Disaster Recovery Plan, DRP) and the corresponding drills are staged", – the Director of the department of project management of Sochi 2014 of JSC Rostelecom Stanislav Borodin told.

Rostelecom conducts active work on formation of information and telecommunication infrastructure of Games in Sochi on the basis of the developed and approved "Concept of creation of uniform information and telecommunication infrastructure of the XXII Olympic winter Games in Sochi". According to provisions of this concept each Olympic venue should be connected to redundant network of sufficient capacity for signal transmission of all information systems.

Rostelecom became the general partner of the XXII Olympic winter Games of 2014 in Sochi in category "Telecommunications" in 2009. Today the company takes active part in preparation for Games, creating necessary telecommunication infrastructure. Rostelecom also gives support to the sporting, educational and cultural events preceding holding Games.
