The Fujitsu company and Tensor group completed the project of upgrade of IT infrastructure of the mayor's office of Yaroslavl.
At the end of 2011 it became obvious that the park of the equipment used by the mayor's office of Yaroslavl does not meet the modern requirements to reliability and safety of IT. A system did not cope in the increased loadings and could not support the mail server, the workflow system, the domain controller, file storage any more. But the main thing – the mayor's office was going to unroll a new informational portal of state services which functioning based on an old IT system was impossible for residents.
Specialists of "The center of information technologies of the city of Yaroslavl" who provide support of the IT system of the mayor's office of the regional center made the decision on complex upgrade of the computer network of executive authority. To increase efficiency of a system, its fault tolerance it was necessary to create and integrate a new powerful computing cluster into the existing infrastructure.
When choosing equipment supplier the main requirements were imposed to scalability of a complex: the computing system had to give the chance of step-by-step accumulation of power, considering perspectives of increase in volume of the processed data. The new IT system also had to include the powerful solution compatible to VMWare having support in the territory of installation and allowing to consolidate at the same time resources. According to the results of the tender as the contractor the Tensor company, the partner of Fujitsu Technology Solutions who has wide experience of development and deployment of similar projects was selected.
"One of basic criteria of this project is reliability, - Sergey Bespalov, the head of department of server technologies of Tensor group noted. - All of us know ordinary expression "the German quality". For several years of work with Fujitsu company we were convinced that these words completely are true. The equipment assembled at the plant in Germany just cannot be unreliable".
Fujitsu and Tensor set the powerful failover computing cluster consisting of three rack Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX600 S6 servers with four Intel Xeon processors E7-4850 and RAM of 128 GB in the mayor's office of Yaroslavl. The scalable PRIMERGY RX600 S6 servers with four connectors under Intel Xeon processors of the last series are in every respect the reliable server for such vital IT services of the company as database management systems of large corporations or the platform of consolidation for start of a huge number of different applications using technologies of visualization. The characteristic of this server platform – it ideal interaction of the integrated functions of reservation with components of server control provides high availability and constantly effective operation of the IT system.
RX600 S6 easily cope with problems of processing of databases thanks to high-performance input-output, massive computing power and 1 TB local memories (up to 2 TB shortly). Large-scale consolidation of workload of level 1 and level 2 in virtual machines benefits from high reliability of the platform and its balanced scalability. The additional efficiency of consolidation and virtualization is reached thanks to the smaller number of logical servers on scalable RX600 S6 platform.
The new failover computing cluster earned at the beginning of 2012. IT upgrade ensured smooth operation of mail services and the workflow system, reliable archiving.
"Group"" calculated Tensor, delivered, installed, and integrated the failover cluster from three Fujitsu RX600 servers which is completely meeting needs of the customer for fault tolerance and computing power into the existing customer's infrastructure", - Elena Saprykina, the manager with partners of Fujitsu Technology Solutions noted.
"The equipment of Fujitsu company perfectly proved to be in operation - it is that reliability which was for us the key moment. The started cluster will become an excellent reference platform for further development of IT infrastructure of the mayor's office, - Valery Tikhonov, the associate director of MKU "Center of Information Technologies of the City of Yaroslavl" noted. – With implementation of this project we were also very much helped by existence of the qualified integrator. It saved us from critical errors on blueprint stage of a cluster".
Based on a new cluster the portal of the public and municipal services which helps residents of Yaroslavl to simplify many procedures was started recently: from obtaining the international passport before opening of own business. The format of the portal allows citizens to reduce considerably time of receiving services and also to provide transparency of the course of their providing and to exclude collecting of excessive references.
