The Danish railroads are used for the analysis of a status of railway infrastructure of Denmark by Prognoz Platform

Having won a victory in an open competition, the Russian IT company "Prognoz" signed the first contract with the Danish state company Banedanmark. Within the project specialists of Prognoz developed model of the analysis of railway infrastructure of Denmark. Tools help the staff of Banedanmark to predict key indicators of development of a system of railway tracks of the country.

The Banedanmark company (The Danish railroads) uses the system developed by the Russian company "Prognoz" for the analysis of a status of railway infrastructure of Denmark. Track Analysis Model allows to count terms of wear and need of updating of elements of railway tracks taking into account a set of factors. Being based on these data, specialists of Banedanmark create the long-term plan of repair and replacement of the equipment, predict annual amounts of works and their financing, select the priority directions.

Amy Lin-Bakher, the chief consultant of management of technical and economic planning of Banedanmark, explains: "All elements of a railway system are registered in a system depending on type and date of commissioning. It creates the broad picture of all railway infrastructure of Denmark on the basis of which it is possible to predict future needs for its service. The expiration date of such elements as rails, cross ties, depends on type of an element and traffic congestion. Analyzing duration of their service and degree of a stress to which they are exposed, we can understand optimal terms for their repair or complete replacement".

"The project was very knowledge-intensive, – the deputy CEO of Forecast Mikhail Kulakov supervising the direction of the international projects notes. – It was necessary to solve a problem of cost optimization of the company on perspective in 50-60 years with a big set of restrictions (on the budget, on amounts of works, etc.)".

As a result the model implemented by the leading analysts of Forecast is recognized one of the most successful IT projects of Banedanmark in recent years. In February, 2012 it is brought into commercial operation and was highly appreciated from the customer. With its help the budget of the company for the Ministry of Transport and power industry of Denmark supervising the industry was in details reasonable.

"Forecast" will continue cooperation with Banedanmark. Works on implementation of similar model of calculation of wear of bridges, tunnels and expense optimization on their repair and service are already begun.

Annually Banedanmark receives several hundred applications for transportation of bulky goods. The system which received the name Profile database will allow to create the single database on profiles of railway tracks (including bridges, platforms, the signal equipment) and to overall dimensions of the rolling stock. It will issue prompt response about a possibility of transportation of bulky goods taking into account its specifics and with indication of high-speed restrictions, to model optimal routes by different criteria (speed, distance, idle time of cars, need of additional manipulations with a load). Also using the system of Forecast issue of permissions to transportation and route sheets will be automated.

It is not the first project which Forecast implements for Banedanmark. In February, 2012 the TAM II system (Track Analysis Model) which allows to count terms of repair and replacement of elements of ways is brought into commercial operation. One more application - BAM (Bridge Analysis Model) - analyzes a status of railway bridges. Experts of Banedanmark highly appreciate unique technological solutions of the Russian company and recommend them to the railway enterprises of other Scandinavian countries.

Project Development

On April 23, 2015 the Prognoz company announced completion of works on creation of the web application for strategic planning of infrastructure projects (Strategic Planning Tool) by request of operator of railway infrastructure Banedanmark (The railroads of Denmark).

Project Results

On the portal of the operator all information on infrastructure railway projects is collected:

• name,
• amount of works,
• cost
• terms.

In a system data on objects accumulate:

• railway tracks,
• bridges and tunnels,
• buildings,
• track signs
• transmission lines,
• repairs
• service of objects of railway infrastructure.

Using tools of Forecast, the staff of Banedanmark analyzes the existing and planned projects in several cuts:

• on a geographical location,
• on a run phase,
• on types of the elements of infrastructure mentioned in the project.

The similar analysis will help to reveal and eliminate timely violations in work flow on projects. The mechanism of the portal presents data in the evident form and prepares reports on infrastructure projects.
