DPC of Microsoft in Wyoming

The Microsoft corporation received in 2012 from the U.S. Government $10 million for the project of construction of the new data processing center (DPC) in the city of Sheyenn of the State of Wyoming. This DPC is on blueprint stage and has no status "mega" yet, however its construction will cost the company $112 million.

The Microsoft corporation received in 2012 from the U.S. Government $10 million for the project of construction of the new data processing center (DPC) in the city of Sheyenn of the State of Wyoming. This DPC is on blueprint stage and has no status "mega" yet, however its construction will cost the company $112 million. Since launch to reaching of DPC industrial power the staff of service staff of data center will be increased from 17 to 40 people. The planned date of opening of DPC – spring of 2013.

Microsoft did not make statements yet concerning what services will be serviced by new data center. Other DPCs of corporation are located to Quincy (Washington), Chicago, San Antonio, Texas, the Southern Virginia and also in the Irish Dublin. Some of the largest data centers, by estimates of independent experts, at a stage of construction could cost the company $500 million. In February, 2012 Microsoft also stated that it is going to invest in addition $130 in expansion of data center in Dublin.

The tranche in the amount of $10 million is encouragement from the State of Wyoming Microsoft could select the land plot under DPC in its territory. A half of the amount is selected from special fund for involvement of DPCs of the governor of the state, the second half – from means of the government agency of the state concerning interaction public and business of the sector (Wyoming Business Council). These means, in particular, will go for optimization of adjacent infrastructure, including optical communication links.

In terms of placement of DPCs Wyoming has the following advantages: inexpensive cost of the electric power, to development fiber optic communication and cool climate. In the territory of the state data centers of Echostar and Green House Data are also located.

Presumably new DPC will work in support of cloud services of Azurei Office 365 and also the search system Bing.
