The McAfee company released in the spring of 2012 upgraded version of the anti-virus solution for the virtualized environments under the name MOVE (Management for Optimized Virtual Environments is the optimizing management of virtual environments) AV. In this updating the McAfee company for the first time implemented deployment of the anativirusny decision without installation of agency modules in under control virtual machines and also strengthened integration of a packet of MOVE AV with systems where the protective VMware vShield Endpoint system is used. The stated innovations considerably expand possibilities of customers on use of the MOVE AV system for protection of virtual servers and client computers.
Existence in all systems of the anti-virus and protective module became the urgent need presently. At the same time, the majority of traditional security systems for physical machines cannot automatically provide protection of all guest virtual systems without installation of special agency modules. In turn, agency modules consume additional computing resources – it almost does not matter for physical machines, but in the virtualized environments where all resources and are so divided between several systems, each such module can have significant effect on performance. From the point of view of the IT administrator agency modules are the most inconvenient and labor-consuming part in deployment and configuring of the protective systems for virtual machines.
The possibility of system deployment of MOVE AV without installation of agents gives to IT administrators the excellent chance to protect the virtual environments from the malware without search of additional windows of service. Actually, now it is enough to install once the copy of MOVE AV on the physical machine, and protection of all guest systems will be automatically provided. As the McAfee company assures, use of a packet of MOVE AV provides protection guest and a host systems from viruses and other threats has no little noticeable impact on performance in comparison with traditional approach when protection of the virtualized systems is performed via the separate agency module for each virtual machine.
The MOVE AV technology actively uses a corporate cloud service of McAfee Global Threat Intelligence which provides equally effective monitoring of systems and the analysis of threats for all types of the protected systems: physical and virtual servers or client jobs. Besides, the packet of MOVE AV is completely integrated with a single platform of systems management of McAfee ePO (ePolicy Orchestrator) for convenient monitoring and control of all protective components in virtual environments.
Integration with VMware vShield Endpoint technology in upgraded version of MOVE AV allows customers to secure the virtual servers and infrastructure of virtual desktops of VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), relying on corporate technology of VMware. Solutions of virtualization of VMware are used by many organizations worldwide so for them a possibility of more effective to use already purchased components when installing an antivirus of MOVE AV it will be explicit a good gift.
