The Acer AC100 microserver is constructed on the Intel platform, contains 16 GB of the RAM, the RAID up to 8 TB and no more than 200 W consume. The product will find application in SOHO/SMB segments, the public and educational institutions.

On April 23, 2012 provided to Acer the AC100 microserver constructed based on the Intel platform. It will add the growing line of servers and DWH of the Taiwan producer focused on a segment of small and medium business. According to Michael Obern (Michael O’Beirne), the senior head on marketing of commercial products of Acer, the new server is assembled in the compact body, requires the minimum intervention from IT specialists and is easily configured. As AC100 can find application even at small home office, its support is most simplified.

Specifications of the server on Intel processors Xeon E3-1200, Core i3 or Pentium with support RAID- an array up to 8 TB and 16 GB of RAM are available. As a part of AC100 there is a pocket for four 3.5-inch hard drives with a possibility of hot connection, six USB ports, one slot of PCI-Express x8, the video interface and eSATA connectors.

Acer made the first attempts to enter the most attractive server market of the USA still about 10 years ago, however only did more noise, than achieved practical results. The company did not manage to shake some the highly competitive North American market with the outlined alignment of forces long ago. In process of strengthening of business on production of the PC about three years ago of Acer repeated attempt and again provided several servers on platforms of Intel. In a year together with market leaders on behalf of NR and Dell the company introduced in a line of servers systems based on 12-core Opteron AMD processors. The last large premiere of servers and DWH of Acer was held in February, 2011, AMD and Intel h86-processors are their cornerstone.

Representatives of Acer calculate that the server in the compact body will strengthen positions of the company not only in the lower segments of SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) and SMB (Small and Midsize Businesses), but also will win popularity in the public and educational institutions. AC100 underwent certification on compliance to the Energy Star specifications – the power of the power supply installed in it does not exceed 200 W.
