Sitronics Information Technologies (Microsoft System Center 2012)

The SITRONICS Information Technologies company constructed a private cloud based on technologies Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft System Сenter 2012. Thanks to transition from virtual the environment to cloud the company increased efficiency of development process and reduced technological hazards which can arise at customers during input of software solutions in commercial operation. Besides, similar approach allowed to increase overall effectiveness of operation of infrastructure due to centralized operation by resources, ensuring monitoring and also automation of many routine transactions.

"The private cloud based on System Center Virtual Manager 2012 allows us to save time of specialists, provides stability and permanent availability of the main tools of our company. So, in general due to automation of resource-intensive procedures, stability augmentation of operation of tools in virtual environment and reductions of time for its service we save about 20 man-hours a month", – Vladimir Tolmachev, the head of project practice of Microsoft in the company noted SITRONICS IT.

In process of a staff increase of employees and growth of number of projects processes of distribution of server resources in virtual environment demanded optimization. Besides, infrastructure needed permanent monitoring which is optimal to carrying out in the automatic mode. The private cloud for which creation the SITRONICS IT company selected the solutions Microsoft System Center 2012 helped to solve all arisen problems, having begun to use them in the version of Release Candidate.

In a private cloud three logically isolated environments were created: a development environment, the environment of modeling of configurations of infrastructures of customers and Wednesday in which the services which are in commercial operation are placed. It allowed to reproduce quickly SITRONICS IT in the laboratory environment a configuration of IT infrastructure of customers and by that as much as possible to prevent technological hazards which can arise in the course of start of software in commercial operation.

Automation of process of distribution of server resources among employees using a self-service portal became an important component of the project. It allowed to reduce considerably operating time of both development specialists, and system administrators. For example, creation of new development center for the project takes about 20 minutes now, and earlier it was required to administrators on a statement and manual adjustment of the hardware from 3 to 5 hours.

At the moment in a cloud environment from 30 to 70 employees depending on the project at the same time work. About 200 virtual machines are monitored and controlled through System Center Virtual Manager 2012 which provides the permanent analysis of a status of infrastructure and helps to distinguish and solve possible problems in advance – overflow of a disk, failure of the server, etc. Thanks to such automation such situations as, for example, idle time in work of ten developers because of overflow of a disk, consigned to the past.

Modern instruments of automation Microsoft System Center also saved the company from need to employ the certain person for monitoring and support of virtual infrastructure. Now the regular specialist gives to system maintenance on average 2 hours a week, and devotes the rest of the time to work on projects. Before deployment of a cloud this employee constantly was engaged in support of infrastructure and the solution of routine tasks of selection of resources and placement of a demo stands.

After a release of the final version of management tools of System Center 2012 in the company are going to connect to the environment servers virtualized using Hyper-V, virtualized using a hypervisor of VMware. The heterogeneous cloud which will be controlled System Center 2012 will allow to test SITRONICS IT the created solutions in the environments, the closest to infrastructures of customers.
