NPO Mikrogen implements the platform of creation of private "cloud"

The DEPO Computers company carried out the project of development and implemented the platform for creation of a private cloud for the benefit of NPO Mikrogen.

Background

Need for carrying out IT upgrade ripened in Mikrogena long ago: the company developed up to 12 branches with the separate IT resources requiring optimization and consolidation in a uniform and flexible computing core.

The customer felt need for increase in availability of IT services, optimization of administrative business processes and financial statements. As a result the task of complex upgrade of IT infrastructure of the company with the most effective use of the current capacities was set for specialists of DEPO Computers.

Solution

The platform for new IT infrastructure of Mikrogen elected the hardware and software system DEPO providing development of IT in cloud model. As a basis for creation of a private cloud in NPO Mikrogen used DEPO Cloud 1000 and managing software of Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2.

Result

Increase in efficiency of financial and administrative business processes, reduction of risks in company management became key result of the first stage of the project. Now in a unified cloud environment functioning of 8 of 12 branches is ensured. The solution developed by specialists of DEPO Computers allowed to minimize several times expected costs for upgrade of a hardware platform and to reduce quantity of resources for administration of IT systems.

Expectations

Virtualization of desktops (VDI) for ensuring continuous work of mobile employees and consolidation of all branches of the company in unified cloud information environment will become the next step in complex upgrade of IT infrastructure of NPO Mikrogen. These stages of the project, long-term and strategic for Mikrogen, will allow to reduce risks in company management in general and to bring possibilities of IT infrastructure to new qualitative level.

Besides, due to implementation of VDI attractiveness of the company as employer for potential employees will significantly increase.
