The retailer "Tander" virtualizes IT infrastructure of own DPCs

The Technoserv company completed the project of virtualization of IT infrastructure of DPCs of Magnit company retailer.

Task

Project objective - increase in disaster tolerance of IT infrastructure of the retailer at simultaneous cost optimization on its operation.

Solution

Within the complex project Technoserv increased the capacity of the existing storage system (SS) of two territorially remote DPCs of the retailer, created the computing infrastructure using virtualization of resources and reservation of data. Works are performed "turnkey", including supply of equipment, installation and commissioning.

Details

For expansion of DWH the scalable Hitachi AMStorage 2500 disk arrays integrated with the existing arrays are selected. The general capacity of a system is about 1 PB. The possibility of further increase in capacity and performance is provided. The farm of servers for virtualization is constructed on the basis of solutions of IBM and consists of nearly 70 servers of the enterprise level. Use of technologies of virtualization and a clustering of computers allows is balanced to use resources of platforms, to provide replication of data, their high availability and fault tolerance.

As base for creation of the different producers and the virtualized computing resources integrated into a uniform pool of DWH were selected the solution EMC VPLEX in combination with technologies of virtualization VMware vSphere. It allowed to create geographically distributed DPCs which provide runtime allocation of resources, the high speed of a virtual network architecture, centralized operation and monitoring of virtual infrastructure, fast movements of applications and large volumes of information both in DPCs, and between them.

"The stage of joint study of the solution in which representatives of both the customer, and integrator, and equipment manufacturers took active part was the most difficult and labor-consuming. It is connected with the fact that creation of a high-performance and easily scalable virtual system requires accounting of many parameters: from the available infrastructure and business processes to features of functioning of applications in the virtualized environment. Creation of the solution meeting performance requirements and fault tolerance of operation of the computing equipment became result. In many respects it was reached thanks to the experience of effective implementation of the virtualized storage systems which is available for the company", - Boris Naumov, the director of the branch of Technoserv company in the Southern Federal District noted.
