On May 22, 2012 the Multikarta company, one of the largest Russian processing companies, and Jet Infosystems, system integrator, announced project completion on creation of the computer system for the consolidated processing center.
Improvement of IT infrastructure of Multikarta within the program of upgrade of the processing center (PC) and quality improvement of the provided services was a main goal of the project.
The failsafe solution on two mirror server platforms – in St. Petersburg and Moscow thanks to which it was succeeded to reach the maximum indicators of reliability and capacity of the computer system and as single server platform and as the distributed complex in general is designed and deployed.
As a result of upgrade of PTs possibilities of maintenance of the growing volumes of business of VTB Group and other clients of Multikarta company extended, the potential for implementation of demanded technological solutions and providing qualitative and convenient services to clients significantly increased.

Technical details of the project
Within the project the failsafe solution on two mirror server platforms – in St. Petersburg and Moscow is designed and deployed. Based on a complex the special application software (PPO) which provides synchronization of the data arriving from the most different services of VTB Group and other clients of Multikarta company is set.
For creation of the computer system the computing platform of IBM company and disk DWH of Hitachi Data Systems company are used. The operability of databases for the consolidated processing center is provided by four IBM Power 570 servers. Each server crashes into virtual partitions using the built-in subsystem of virtualization of IBM PowerVM. This technology is used for accurate differentiation and management of physical resources between virtual servers, in each of which one of test or productive databases of a complex works. In total over 90 DB are involved in a complex.
Completely to exclude idle times at routine maintenance of the server hardware and also the Live Partition Mobility technology is applied to a possibility of balancing of business load of servers online in the solution (enters the version of Enterprise of the product IBM PowerVM). It allows to transfer virtual partition from one physical server to another an integral autonomous segment, without termination of work of business applications.
The computer system was deployed on two server platforms which are territorially in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Platforms are connected among themselves by a failsafe network communication channel. The equipment on platforms completely symmetric, the configuration of a complex is expected long-run job without loss of functionality and performance of the main information services in case of breakdown of one of platforms.
Besides, the flexible management system for computing resources allowing to increase computing power with granularity (step) to one processor was implemented. It gives ample opportunities for scaling with entering of the minimum changes into an IT park configuration that allows to save already made investments. The combination of these technologies within one solution provided the maximum indicators of fault tolerance of the computer system and as single server platform and as the distributed complex in general.
