The Leroy Merlin company completes the project of deployment of a private cloud on the Microsoft platform

The Leroy Merlin company and Microsoft company completed the project of deployment of a private cloud on the basis of Microsoft Hyper-V technology and management tools of System Center.

Task

Business development of the company demanded from IT department of high speed of providing new services and applications. However the available IT infrastructure did not allow to give to business necessary support that involved need of increase in capital costs. Besides, the outdated hardware often complicated infrastructure management therefore IT specialists of the company were forced to spend a lot of time for administration of IT resources, but not on implementation of strategic projects. As a result of it in the company the decision to upgrade IT infrastructure using technologies of virtualization and then to unroll a private cloud based on solutions of Microsoft was made.

Data transfer

The project of migration is implemented by forces of internal division of the company and took about 2 months. Now the mail Microsoft Exchange 2010 system, a part of domain controllers, the print server, DNS servers, Windows Server Update Services, a system bank client, resources for testing, the server of contacts and some other important IT services are transferred to a private cloud. According to the estimates of Leroy Merlin economy in comparison with the previous system made about 147%. It was reached due to reducing costs of physical servers, including the electric power, cooling, technical support contracts and hardware maintenance, even thanks to economy of the place in server racks and the areas of server rooms.
