Trend Micro Deep Security

Dmitry Safronov, the head of department of data protection of department of information technologies of VGTRK, told that in 2011 the company put into operation big data center. As a result there was an opportunity to transfer a number of IT solutions of infrastructure to virtual environment based on solutions of VMware company. Protection of virtual environment against external threats was implemented on the solution Trend Micro Deep Security (Trend Micro company) which operating experience the speaker shared.

Having noted that the solution on protection against external threats was already successfully approved in practice in the first decade of May, 2011 when serious attacks on resources of the Russian television were undertaken, the representative of VGTRK among advantages of this product noted that 'virtual patching', i.e. a possibility of protection of the business applications which are not closed by the last updates yet. The present possibility was very useful for 'a number of the systems of domestic production' as the speaker which crucially belong to updates of Microsoft diplomatically explained. The second advantage of the solution mentioned by Dmitry Safronov — absence of anti-virus agents on virtual machines that is especially important for systems working in the round-the-clock mode and available resources, sensitive to any reduction. For the speaker as head of department of data protection of the company, it was important to receive the management tool security of virtual environment with differentiation of access rights and an opportunity to control actions of administrators. It is characteristic that, despite the last achievements — as from IT developers, and malefactors, one of the main security risks, Dmitry Safronov in conclusion of the performance was recognized, there is still a human factor, i.e. negligent behavior of employees (not IT specialists) forgetting sometimes about the obligations for observance of rules and regulations of the equipment of information security.

Project completion

On September 17, 2012 INLINE Technologies announced project completion of solution deployment of the complex platform of security on the basis of the solution Trend Micro Deep Security in VGTRK TV company. Within the project audit of the current level of technical personal data protection is booked, the package of measures for improvement of an information security system of VGTRK is defined.

Detailed examination of information systems regarding information security, including audit of a personal data system is conducted. The solution on protection of virtual infrastructure in two geographically distributed data processing centers is deployed.

Result

The complex platform of security of computing infrastructure became result of works on increase in level of security of an information system of the company. A main goal of implementation of the platform of security was automatic ensuring security of newly created virtual machines and decrease in load of virtual machines in the course of anti-virus scanning. Use of the technical means and regulations offered by specialists of INLINE Technologies allowed to provide a steady downward tendency of labor costs of technicians on service of virtual infrastructure and lack of critical failures and errors in work of software.
