The Asteros company upgraded and expanded two DPCs for Severstal. New infrastructure of data centers created a reliable environment for effective and trouble-free operation of business applications of the industrial company.
Severstal — one of the world's largest steel-making and mining companies. In business management the company relies on a set of IT systems which base are 2 data centers. Over time growth and complication of number of business applications demanded upgrade of a technology basis of DPC.
To specialists of Asteros it was entrusted to update the systems of data centers and to expand the area for installation of the additional hardware. The project was supervised by Severstal-Infokom company which is the center of information and communication technologies of Severstal.
During the project SCS were newly created and the LAN supporting more than 1000 ports implements security systems, ventilation and conditioning of data centers are updated. Both DPCs, with a total power of 600 kW, are equipped with DGU and the UPS which are capable to support independent operation of the equipment within 5 hours.
Using the Flovent program specialists of Asteros simulated the movement of air flows in DPC that allowed to find an optimal way of creation of cooling systems and ventilation and also to reduce costs for the consumed electric power.
Supervisory control of data centers is exercised using SCADA-системы Iconics which conducts continuous monitoring of work of the engineering systems and technology equipment.
According to Alexey Karpov, the director of the department of data processing centers of Asteros company, after upgrade both DPCs by the parameters are as close as possible to the Tier III level.
