Surgutneftegas passed with the first in Russia to SAP HANA

Surgutneftegas the first of the Russian companies tested on itself SAP HANA, the head of department of information technologies of the company Rinat Gimranov at a seminar reported on October 11, 2012 at a seminar of SAP CIS.

Project Tasks

Reduction of a set-up time of reports and data processing, receiving up-to-date information in the set unit of time was the main objective of the project. And also transition from outdated SAP R/3 system and simplification of IT infrastructure.

According to Rinat Gimranov, the company approved for itself SAP as the corporate standard of IT systems long ago. "Therefore when we learned about new development and looked that it can, we wanted to test it on ourselves", - he tells. - The problem was that SAP HANA was not tested also crude. We for ourselves decided to participate in testing and by that some of the first if not the first in Russia unrolled at themselves this product".

In 2010 Surgutneftegas began close cooperation with Voldorfsky development center SAP. "All during operating time with SAP over projects, we endured 22 iterations of a product", - Gimranov continued.

In 2011 the project of integration SAP HANA began. And in November, 2011 the first user was connected to a system.

As of a nchal of October, 2012, in Surgutneftegas 2000 employees use SAP HANA.

Results

Decrease temporary on creation of reports became tomorrow one of the expected results, according to Gimranov. "In the past when the user entered a request, standard SAP R/3 the report was ready within 40 minutes. Using the solution on the basis of SAP HANASAP HANA, time from a request before delivery of the ready report is from six to eight seconds. The most part of this time is required for visualization hundreds of pages of the report, but not for calculation of result", - he tells. - Users can analyze huge amounts of data in real time, sort data depending on material and storage location, and even to enter three letters from a material name – as in the Google search engine – and to receive the complete list of materials".

After the termination of the second part of work on a prototype, Surgutneftegas decided that SAP HANA it will be at the heart of all new analytical solutions for all activities of the company. Also the company will transfer on SAP HANA SAP Business Warehouse. The question of work with ERP is considered on SAP HANA.

Cost

As Rinat Gimranov reported TAdviser, Surgutneftegas did not pay anything for SAP HANA. It is connected with the fact that the company acted as the examinee. "Only infrastructure was paid: HP server", - he told.

Objectives

In the closest plans Surgutneftegas is implementation of in-memory technology which will help the company to reduce the investments into IT. "Besides, investments will pay off during the short time frame", - Gimranov told.

Up to 2016 the company is going to be engaged in optimization of an inftrastruktura. "I dream. that in the company there were only two servers: transactional and operational. All the rest or is virtualized, or in a cloud", - Gimranov shared plans.
