T-Mini P

Product
Developers: T-Platforms
Date of the premiere of the system: May, 2012
Technology: Supercomputer

On June 17, 2012 the T-Platforms company announced entry into the market of a new solution – the personal T-Mini P supercomputer.

The T-Mini P system is the high-integrated mini-cluster and the graphic station. The chassis with the touch screen of management and a powerful disk subsystem is included by the managing director and the computing nodes united in a single productive network. The high integration scale and use of operating environment of MS Windows of HPC Server 2008 R2 will allow to apply rather quickly supercomputer technologies in work, without the need for retraining of personnel, without changes of engineering infrastructure of office and without additional investments into creation of computer center.

The T-Mini P system is focused on the working groups which are traditionally using graphic stations and interested in regular access to high-performance cluster systems. The engineering companies and the design centers, oil and gas institutes, the research organizations and faculties of educational institutions can appreciate advantages of this solution. T-Mini P will also allow to avoid partially dependence on cross-industry computer centers, reducing the dead times connected with providing access to resources of a large cluster. At last, the possibility of remote network access and the mixed scenarios of use of a system as parallel cluster and workstation will allow to improve efficiency of intergroup and individual use of a system, reducing the general time of research and development of products and technologies.

The T-Mini system based on the P8000 chassis includes the built-in control node, a compartment for placement of dual-processor computing nodes and a storage device subsystem 16 disks hotter" than replacement. Computing nodes are integrated by high-speed network Gigabit Ethernet or QDR InfiniBand. On the front T-Mini P panel touch screen 3.5" with the intuitive interface displaying information on a configuration and the operational status of a system is located. The chassis with air cooling is connected to alternating current mains of 220 V, without requiring additional cooling. The head node with four expansion slots PCI Express allows to install up to two professional video cards, the RAID controller and network adapters, expanding possibilities of visualization, information storage and remote access.

The T-Mini P family is available with computing modules of P200 series based on Intel® Xeon® E5 2600 processors and P205 series based on Opteron™ 6200 AMD processors. The module of standard thickness P20xS is a dual-processor node based on architecture of x86. The module P20xF of double thickness allows to install the NVIDIA® Tesla™ accelerator of series C and bigger quantity of local disks. Ergonomic configurations with four computing modules are optimized for installation near a desktop, with connection to two independent sockets 10A. High-performance configurations with eight modules can be rack-mounted (8U) and be increased in larger cluster consisting of several T-Mini P. It will allow to protect investments of customers, increasing the park of the similar systems and to create flexible scenarios of use of the growing capacities. Peak capacity of a system at the moment is more than 2.6 TFlops in a configuration with processors of architecture of x86, and more than 3.38 TFlops in a configuration with NVIDIA® Tesla™ C2075 accelerators. The price of completely completed ergonomic T-Mini P configuration in Russia is only 1.5 million rubles. The family is already available to the preorder, from the beginning of deliveries in September, 2012. A system will be available to the European market in the 4th quarter 2012.

"Recently the increasing number of individual users and rather small working groups need own computing resources. At the same time demand for the quiet, compact personal stations of parallel processing working directly at office grows, - Vsevolod Opanasenko, the CEO of T-Platforms company says. – The new solution of our company gives flexible opportunities for calculations in different spheres of research activity and CADCAM//CAE-design and also approaches for a wide range of the users aiming to get experience of use of supercomputer technologies in the work".

The T-Platforms company plans creation of training courses in use of T-Mini P and certification of family with some applications of visualization and parallel processing of data.
