History
2024: New terminal completed for $ ₽6,1 billion
The construction of a new passenger terminal for international air lines (MVL) worth ₽6,1 billion has been completed at the Khabarovsk International Airport. This became known on October 2, 2024 after receiving a conclusion on compliance (POS) from Rostekhnadzor, confirming the complete construction readiness of the facility.
The new terminal is designed as part of a single terminal complex and will be integrated with the existing domestic passenger terminal building. The project was implemented by Khabarovsk International Aviation Terminal JSC, which is a resident of Khabarovsk TOP and a subsidiary of Khabarovsk Airport JSC.
Construction funding was provided from several sources. ВЭБ.РФ provided ₽3 billion, including ₽1,5 billion in concessional financing for priority investment projects in the Far East and the Arctic. Khabarovsk Airport JSC has invested ₽2,2 billion of its own funds. Another ₽0,8 billion was allocated from the federal budget for equipping an air checkpoint across the state border.
The new terminal features state-of-the-art equipment including two teletraps, seven elevators, seven escalators, a two-level automated baggage handling system and 11 check-in counters. The checkpoint across the state border will be equipped with 30 passport control cabins, five of which are intended for people with limited mobility.
Representatives of the airport said that obtaining a PTA is the basis for obtaining permission from the Federal Air Transport Agency to put the new terminal into operation. Commissioning, inspection and testing of all terminal systems are underway.
The launch of the new passenger terminal of the MVL into operation and the start of the phased transfer of international flights to it from the existing terminal of the MVL are scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.[1]
