The Nuance Communications company announced in the summer of 2012 new development in the field of voice sensing technologies. Nina – the virtual voice assistant as it is called by the company. The solution created for platforms Android and iOS, includes, both speech sensing technologies, and text-to-speech conversions, plus to it voice biometrics.

The company also announced availability of Nina Virtual Assistant SDK and cloud services which should allow third-party developers to create the customized systems. So far it is available only to English (with regional breakdown the USA, Great Britain and Australia).

Observers note that Nuance Communications, thus entered competitive struggle with Apple which actively develops the Siri Apple system.

Nina uses a sensing technology of the natural speech of Nuance (NLU) for ensuring the personalized interaction with consumers and less expensive service. Nina became the first solution in which possibilities of a personal virtual assistant for client mobile applications were implemented.

The solution allows consumers simple words to ask the question orally or in writing and to easily obtain necessary information, support, an opportunity to make purchases or to control the transactions.

Nuance services are applied in such companies as USAirways, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, Barclays, Bank of America, Turkcell, AirFrance, FedEx, Telefonica and others.
