The Asteros upgraded IT infrastructure of GM Avtovaz

The Asteros company upgraded IT infrastructure of GM-AVTOVAZ joint venture.

Objectives

The computer system of GM-AVTOVAZ is constructed more than 7 years ago. Over time the obsolete equipment ceased to cope with loadings, and costs for service maintenance became excessively high. In 2011 the management of the enterprise decided to upgrade computing resources and based on two data centers to create the disaster-proof virtualized IT platform.

Project implementation is charged to Asteros. Specialists of the company executed all cycle of works: from audit of the current infrastructure and development of its future architecture before deployment and adjustment of the hardware and also migration of all systems and applications on the new platform.

Solution

Future infrastructure was created on the equipment and software solutions of NR. For support of the high-loaded corporate business applications, including the systems of SAP, are used a blade servers of NR Integrity. On their basis the Integrity Virtual Machines HP virtualization platform is deployed. The servers of architecture of x86 which became base for VMware vSphere 5 were used for functioning of infrastructure services. The combination of architecture allows to start at the same time different services and systems, providing their high availability and performance.

Both DPCs are connected among themselves by optical links. With their help the unified environment of data storage of SAN is organized. Replication of data between data centers and backup are performed online using software of HP of Continuous Access EVA. Permanent monitoring of IT services allows to reveal and eliminate faults in the shortest possible time.

Within the project specialists of Asteros made migration of all applications and services, including the system of SAP, on new hardware-software solutions.

"Our main objective was to upgrade IT structure so that production processes of the enterprise were not broken. Therefore we executed the majority of migrations only at night and the days off. Thanks to active participation of specialists of GM-AVTOVAZ we quickly enough implemented the project. Value assessment

As the head of data processing centers of CROC company Ruslan Zayedinov reported Tadviser, project cost is about 1 million dollars. "The error can make no more than 10-15%", - Zayedinov told. By its estimates, similar projects can about half a year lasts.
