Content

Bank VTB 24 also Jet Infosystems brought the first stage of the new data processing center constructed taking into account requirements for the level of reliability Tier 3 TIA-942 into operation. The premises of the center are expected 82 loaded racks. Fault tolerance coefficient – 99.982%.

Objectives

VTB 24 network is created by more than 600 representations in 69 regions of Russia. Development of bank demanded increase in computing powers. With respect thereto the management makes the decision on construction of the additional data processing center (DPC).

According to the results of the tender the Jet Infosystems company became the general contractor of the project. In the project were used the advanced technical solutions of more than 30 equipment manufacturers among which: Chloride, Emerson, SDMO, Panduit, Huber+Suhner, Schneider, etc. More than fifteen contract organizations are involved in works. The general project duration was 6 months.

Solution

Specialists of Jet Infosystems company developed the complex project on construction and architectural preparation of the premises for DPC meaning carrying out a waterproofing of a roof and providing a microclimate, necessary for construction of the engineering systems, indoors. Design and creation of 11 DPCs of engineering subsystems, necessary for life support, became the second large block of works: a structured cabling system, the system of an electric lighting, ventilation, maintenance of humidity and conditioning, the guaranteed power supply, the distributed power supply, gas fire extinguishing, control of parameters of the environment and the alarm signaling, access control and video surveillance.

For providing the high level of reliability the most part of systems is equipped with reserve capacities. For example, for a conditioning system the scheme of reservation N+3 was selected. On a case of possible power supply failures in DPC the 1 MW diesel generator set is installed. It allows to provide within several hours DPC with the electric power sufficient for its full-fledged work.

"Characteristics of the constructed data center are like that that allow at the same time both its operation, and maintenance. Such processes as replacement, adding or removal of the failed equipment, will not cause decrease in capacities of DPC. One of the key principles of work of our bank – care of the client. Therefore we consider inadmissible even the most insignificant decline in quality of customer services because of forced equipment downtime for technical reasons", – Alexey Tarakin, the head of department of engineering support and operation of service center VTB 24 emphasized.
"Need of placement of a significant amount of the equipment for strictly limited perimeter and creation of a full-fledged data processing center of high power with the corresponding infrastructure based on the office space became distinctive features of the project, – Sergey Andronov, the Head of Department of design, implementation and support of the Center of network solutions of Jet Infosystems company told. – One more its feature – a set of the organizational tasks connected with a multivendornost and a large number of contract organizations. It demanded the accurate regulation of stages of works and logistics which completely excluded possible failures of supplies of equipment and the related idle times. What was especially critical, in view of limited terms of the project".

Result

The constructed DPC is separated into two parts. The first stage from 46 racks is brought into operation. Start of the second queue is going to be performed in 2013.

Project Continuation

On August 20, 2014 VTB 24 bank and Jet Infosystems company announced start in operation of the second queue of a data processing center. Design is complete and engineering subsystems are implemented:

  • additional uninterruptible power supply units,
  • system of a distributed network,
  • diesel generator set,
  • structured cabling system.

For August 20, 2014 the area of DPC is 320 sq.m. The complex ensures functioning of 82 racks of the equipment with a total power of 1600 kW at the level of fault tolerance of 99.982%. The maximum allowed downtime – 1.6 hours a year.

As works were conducted in the operating data center, it was important to avoid negative impact on the working systems. Delivery of the large equipment to an object was carried out with extra care, and its dimensions were commensurated with the corridors which are available in DPC to centimeters in advance. Connection of the new sector of DPC to power supply was performed without stops in work of the operated banking systems: schemes of temporary connection were for this purpose used.

In the project solutions on the basis of modular and block architecture are used: flexibly scalable and reconfigurable under new tasks. At the first stage it helped to avoid excess costs, buying only the necessary equipment, and on the second – systematically to expand DPC without stopping of business processes.
