Russian Railways equip divisions with the IP telephony from Cisco

In two divisions of JSC "Russian Railways" in Krasnoyarsk IP telephone exchanges of Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition 3000 (BE 3000) are set. One of them is used by directorate of draft of the Krasnoyarsk railroad, another – regional directorate on repair of draft.

Tasks

The question of search of the solution for the IP-telefonii organization arose in connection with relocation of regional directorate of draft and regional directorate on repair of draft in rented rooms without data network. Respectively, there was a need to organize at these offices a data network and IP-telefonii for connection of a large number of subscribers to a telephone network of the Russian Railway.

"We studied wide range of products, offered today in the telecommunication market of Russia, and decided to stop on BE 3000 as this new compact station conforms to all our requirements. BE 3000 completely covers our needs for fitted capacity and provides additional services for subscribers", – Alexander Yurasov, the administrator of structural division of Major computer center – Russian Railway branch of JSC tells.

Solution

Within the organization of communication services for divisions of JSC "Russian Railways" two VPN canals for transfer of IP traffic and also two channels E1 for connection to a public telephone network were built. On channels the Cisco switches Catalyst 2960-24PC-L allowing to integrate several devices in network and supporting voice transmission, video and data with the high level of safety of access are installed. Now each station set in divisions of the Krasnoyarsk railroad services 100 phones. "Possibilities of BE 3000 are much wider: the solution allows to service up to 300 subscribers and up to 400 lines. However we could not connect both directorates to one station as they represent two different legal entities", − Alexander Yurasov explained.

Result

The BE 3000 system increased efficiency of workflows in divisions of JSC "Russian Railways" and allowed to implement in them technologies of unified communications in only three weeks and with the minimum investments.
