2014: A new line of the readers OMNIKEY of the HID brand for local access to IT-systems and PC on smart cards
The HID Global company provided readers of a new line of OMNIKEY for access restriction to local networks and computers using the RFID cards working at frequencies of 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz, contact smart cards and biometrics of the person. New products are connected to the PC via the USB interface and can work with proximity cards of the standards EM Marine, iClass, iClass SE, Prox, Indala, Mifare and also with the contact MasterCard, Visa, Europay, Crescendo and ISO 7816 cards. Such solution allows to limit local access to the PC using the same smart cards, as for pass to premises. At the same time readers with advanced functionality which can perform authentication of personnel, a time recording enter a line of OMNIKEY and also to provide data entry without use of the keyboard, carrying out cashless payments, etc.
Dual-band access devices of a new line of OMNIKEY are provided by two models — 5326 and 5427 CK which support identification at frequencies of 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz and read out codes of smart cards of the formats EM Marine, iClass, iClass SE, Prox, Indala, Mifare, etc. in systems providing both the physical, and protected local access. At the same time the OMNIKEY 5427 CK model can work in the CCID mode (Integrated circuit card interface device) when data transmission of smart cards is performed under the standard protocol without installation of drivers and also in a compatibility mode of the keyboard (Keyboard wedge). The second mode is configured via the web interface of a device and used for local input of identification data in text boxes of any applications.
For access on contact smart cards with the built-in chip the desktop readers OMNIKEY 3021, 3111 Serial, 3121, 3921, 7121 and also mobile models 4040 PCMCIA, 4321 ExpressCard 54, 6121, 2061 which read out the MasterCard, Visa, Europay, Crescendo and ISO 7816 cards are issued. In a row these devices, along with the main functionality providing local access special features are added. So, for example, model 7121 is equipped with the biometric fingerprint reader, and 2061 uses the wireless Bluetooth interface. Thanks to the different sizes of the body of contact readers, they can be placed in the body of the system unit of the computer on site of the disk drive or locally on a table for what they are supplied with weighting of the basis.
Reader 5321 which is delivered in the hermetic package is a part of the specialized products HID of a line of OMNIKEY and provides local access to the PC in the premises having increased requirements on hygiene and purity and also model 5021 CL similar from 5321 in functionality, but with more compact sizes. Besides, in a line there are readers 5421 with the latest functionality which in addition to contactless 13.56 MHz of smart cards and the contact ISO 7816 access cards, support local access on NFC technologies and also the mobile devices of series 6321 which are reading out RFID cards of the iClass standard and the contact identifiers ISO 7816, the size as the SIM card (ID-000).
The functionality of the reader devices HID OMNIKEY allows to limit access to the PC, local and global resources. In particular, on their base it is possible to organize the authorized login of Windows, in networks and different IT applications. At the same time local access can be complemented with a possibility of the protected storage of user names, their personal data and passwords. As means of identification for OMNIKEY smart cards can be used (contact and contactless), applied in control systems of access to premises that increases security of data and also reduces the cost of a corporate system of security.
The raised security level of access point is provided by the readers OMNIKEY equipped with the PIN keyboard and executing two-factor identification of users in a system. In particular, the reader with the PIN keyboard can effectively limit local access to IT applications with high requirements for security. The reader OMNIKEY 3621 with the number pad and the USB interface, and model 3821 with the LCD display for work with credit cards and applications of storage of electronic signatures belongs to such devices.
OMNIKEY 5321
In December, 2012 the HID Global company and Dell company announced consolidation of the technologies for the purpose of satisfaction of the growing requirements of health care market. HID Global gave to Dell an opportunity to use the readers OMNIKEY 5321 in the solution Mobile Clinical Computing. Thanks to a single system of the fast automatic authentication based on use of ID cards, the security level in medical institutions will become higher. The solution provides secure access of employees to data and applications necessary to them, saving from need to remember different logins and passwords to the internal and third-party systems.
In addition to unique features of the signature and authentication, the solution Dell Mobile Clinical Computing cross-platform virtualization and mobility of devices is the cornerstone. They promote growth of efficiency and performance of the organizations and also increase in level of their information security in general.
Thus the solution Mobile Clinical Computing is designed to increase mobility of medical institutions, to save them time and also to improve service quality of patients and to increase efficiency of activity of personnel by 25%. According to Ricardo Menezis (Ricardo Menezes), the sales director of solutions for medical, educational and public institutions of Dell in Brazil, it means that Dell will provide to hospitals not only notebooks, but also systems which provide virtualization of data and secure access to up-to-date standard information at any time and from any place for authorized users.
Gustavo Gassmann, the sales director of HID Global in Brazil, considers that the solution is ideal for those medical institutions where several specialists use the same system and the same computer in work. "For providing an information access to employees two-factor authentication is always used: the ID card applied also to physical access and the password. Except usability, this technology guarantees data security of all users of the same computer", – Gassmann claims.
The reader HID Global OMNIKEY 5321 with the dual interface is the external device connected via the USB interface. It supports the iCLASS® and MIFARE® proximity cards working at frequency of 13.56 MHz and conforming to ISO standards 14443 A/B and ISO 15693.
The reader shows convenience, speed and security of contactless technology which opens access to different applications, including to the Windows® system, local networks, websites, and provides safe storage of names, passwords and personal data of users.
OMNIKEY 5427CK
New OMNIKEY 5427CK provides support of the Chip Card Interface Device (CCID) specification and the Keyboard Wedge interface that offers new prospects for system integrators
On September 6, 2012 the HID Global company announced release of the device for reading the OMNIKEY® 5427CK contactless smart cards with support of the Keyboard Wedge interface. This reader simplifying process of management of lifecycle of the software allows system integrators to project contactless solutions which do not require installation and service of drivers. Similar contactless readers are, as a rule, used for authentication in applications for the protected printing on printers and copiers, for solutions with technology of single pass-through authentication, the ACS and networks.
Thanks to the Keyboard Wedge interface users of OMNIKEY 5427CK can easily take information from the card brought to the reader and transfer data to the application by emulation of keyboard input. Manual entry of credentials for an input in the application is not required. The HID Global company also developed the built-in payment of the reader OMNIKEY® 5127CK which has the same functionality.
HID Global offers application developers the array of instrumentation of OMNIKEY Developer Tool Kit (DTK) allowing to integrate quicker self-contained units and payments into the existing systems and the accelerating output of ready-made solutions to the market.
"Corporate users even more often should specify identification data not only for access control, now it demands additional application for authentication in the systems of the protected printing and single pass-through authentication — Helmut Dansachmüller, the executive director on marketing of products of HID Global says. — The new OMNIKEY 5427CK device not only supports such converged applications, it also allows our partners to accelerate process of integration of a product and quicker to create ready-made solutions for clients".
Thanks to support of standards of both high-frequency, and low-frequency reading, such as iCLASS®, iCLASS® SE, HID® PROX, MIFARE® Classic and MIFARE® DESFire™ EV1, OMNIKEY® 5427CK device gives to users the chance to pass without serious consequences to technologies of contactless transfer of credentials and allows to organize hybrid technological solutions.
