Alfa-Bank completes the construction of a system of the analytical reporting

Alfa-Bank and Jet Infosystems company completed creation of a system of the analytical reporting for needs of Treasury. A system is implemented based on OLAP technologies (online analytical processing).

Tasks

Main objective of the project - creation of tools for operational creation of the reporting under forecast models of Treasury in necessary analytical cuts. Besides, replacement of a large number of the same reports which were developed on requests of Treasury for several years was necessary and had the logic which is "sewn up" in the code. Analysts of Treasury used "improvised" means for selection and data analysis directly from banking systems. Therefore over time the speed of development of new reports ceased to meet requirements to the analysis.

Solution

Specialists of Jet Infosystems company analyzed requirements of bank to reporting system and designed analytical model for optimal data processing. As the OLAP platform the bank selected a multidimensional DB of Oracle Essbase, and as the tool for data analysis – Oracle BI.

Together with a project team of bank experts of Jet Infosystems company integrated the aggregated data Oracle Essbase and detailed data of banking systems in a relational DB of Oracle. It gave the chance to users not only to analyze the aggregated information by different analytical signs, but also in case of need to browse detailed data with the help of the drill-down mechanism (detailing).

"Specialists of bank carried out volume analytical work. The model from 9 business areas meeting the requirements of Treasury for flexible data analysis became its result. It is the project pioneer: for the first time in bank the analytical model on the Essbase platform was constructed. Besides, it was extremely difficult technically. It is possible to refer requirements to high degree of readiness of data in analytical model against the background of a large number of changes in initial data to its features. During the project unique technological solutions were implemented and all key requirements are implemented.
