Istra solid waste landfill

The Istra solid waste landfill (municipal unitary enterprise) — the solid waste landfill located in 40 km from Moscow. On a polygon over 3 million m3 of MSW are stored. Per day the dump accepts more than 250 garbage trucks, each of which brings 15 m3 of garbage. Dump height — about 30 m.
The Istra solid waste landfill (the local name the Pavlovsk dump) is located in 370 meters from the Istra River (in its sanitary protection zone). Istra — one of the main sources of water supply of the capital. The Kolobelenka River is located in 255 meters from a polygon. The prevailing S-Z wind rose. Analyses on inorganic compounds of the samples taken from nearby wells and the Kolobelenki Rivers which are carried out in April, 2012 did not show exceeding on the content of metals and chlorine. However the analysis on ammonium showed significant exceeding: ammonium ion, mg/dm3 24.8 against 0.5 regulation (a test method of PND F 14.1:2.1-95). What speaks about pollution of waters products of organic decomposition.
