Yota implemented the HP solution for the analysis of big data

Skartel, the Yota trademark, implemented the platform according to the analysis and processing Big data HP Vertica, reported vendor on October 2, 2012.

The press service of HP Russia of TAdviser reported that the project - the first in all territory of Central and Eastern Europe.

At the moment the volume of uniform federal storage is about 3 Tbyte, and every day about 20 Gbytes of data come to it. The parallel solution architecture provides by 100 times higher speed of data loading, than earlier, and access rate to the necessary information and constructions of the report grew by 10 times in comparison with the previous data warehouse. According to the representative of HP Russia, implementation of the platform took place imperceptibly for ordinary users.

"The average volume of traffic of one subscriber of Yota exceeds 10 Gbytes a month — the CEO of Yota Igor Torgov says. — Parallel, vertically ordered HP Vertica DBMS will allow Yota to increase steadily the volume of the uniform data warehouse, supporting the maximum capacity of its work".

Solution

Loading of records of calls (CDR) which was made once a day earlier and took several hours, now there are each five minutes. Opportunities which are given by HP Vertica for data compression allow Yota to spend less resources for storage of similar information volume, and a system can be easily scaled by adding of new nodes in a cluster. At the same time process of scaling is completely automated and does not require a break in service. Earlier Yota could store the raw data only 45 days without prejudice to overall performance, the tepersrok of storage is not limited.
