VMware vFabric GemFire 7.0
The VMware company in the fall of 2012 announced an exit of VMware vFabric GemFire 7.0, the platform of data management placed in RAM. High-speed performance and dynamic scalability are combined in it with reliability and abilities to manage the data inherent in traditional databases. Thanks to the high speed and flexibility the new version allows to process large data arrays, being scaled in a cloud at increase of needs of the user and also provides new instruments of monitoring and management. Besides, in the new version the built-in support of the documents JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) appeared. Popular with developers mobile and web applications the vFabric GemFire platform provides for the JSON format the high performance, horizontal scaling, support of transactions and other opportunities of applications of an enterprise scale not available in products of competitors.
"Monolithic databases of the past are not able to satisfy requirements of modern applications, – Jerry Chen, the vice president of VMware for cloud computing says. – Version 7.0 of the VMware vFabric™ GemFire® platform which well proved for nearly ten years of deployments in applications with the highest rates of uninterrupted operation of work and the minimum delay of a response allows to solve complex problems of data processing which the modern focused applications which are strongly distributed web face".
Minimizing delays, vFabric GemFire allows to configure fast, fault-free and scalable data access for the modern applications making a large number of transactions. Thus, the platform provides much higher speed of operation of applications in comparison with the traditional database.
New opportunities of VMware vFabric GemFire 7.0:
- Scaling in a cloud in process of business development. Enhanced capabilities of caching and support of distributed networks (WAN) allow to support applications with the minimum delays of a response, capable to be scaled for service of hundreds of thousands of users working with terabytes of data. The new possibility of parallel processing in WAN networks allows to scale vFabric GemFire for work at geographically distributed offices without reduction of speed and performance.
- The simplified monitoring and management. In vFabric GemFire there was a new graphic dashboard and also possibilities of tracking of performance which allow to control indicators of distributed environments using the single console. The simplified command line interface and the new DataBrowser tool provide convenient viewing data, accomplishment of requests and also management of all parameters of the vFabric GemFire environment.
- Performance improvement of work of developers. The modern application programming interfaces (API) and also integration into the Spring platform accelerate and simplify application development. The integration into the Spring Data GemFire project opening access to documentation and samples of the code allows to simplify considerably development and support of scalable transaction business applications. Besides, the applications using Memcached can be translated to vFabric GemFire with the minimum participation of the developer (or even without it) as vFabric GemFire 7.0 supports the client Memcached protocol.
- Support of the documents JSON. vFabric GemFire 7.0 supports document storage of JSON and requests to them. vFabric GemFire provides possibilities of applications of an enterprise scale during the work with the documents JSON among which – the minimum delays, horizontal scaling, support of transactions, security and continuous requests. The platform supports accomplishment of requests to the documents JSON and also in parallel to objects keys and objects values. Thanks to this vFabric GemFire it can effectively be used as storage of documents for mobile and REST-applications.
vFabric GemFire use about one thousand leading companies of the world working in the most different industries: financial services, retail on the Internet, tourism, etc.
