KAMAZ transferred IT infrastructure to outsourcing

"KamAZ" completed the project on transfer on outsourcing of IT infrastructure to GAU "IT park".

Outsourcing as part of upgrade

At the beginning of 2012 within the general upgrade IT infrastrukury the management of IT department of JSC KAMAZ made the decision on the translation of the main business applications on outsourcing in data center of GAU "IT park" in Kazan. A number of business applications, including the ERP system of the SAP plants of Metallurgy sector, manufacturing 1C systems: The enterprise and Microsoft (the Exchange mail server, the SharePoint portal and a communicator of Lync) it was placed in a private cloud of virtual infrastructure of data center based on a blade servers of IBM Blade Center H and the storage system of IBM Storwize v7000 guaranteeing productive and 24/7 failsafe data processing. All other IT infrastructure was transferred to outsourcing also later.

"We stopped the choice on IT outsourcing model which will allow us to be focused on key business priorities, - the director of the center of information and communication technologies of KAMAZ Mikhail Nosov noted. – Using advanced technologies and experience of experts of the IT park, we reorganize workflow, increasing efficiency of all business operations.

Project Result

Complex outsourcing of IT infrastructure will allow the company to increase effective management of information resources, to guarantee decrease in capital costs and to provide the innovative development of the enterprise. So, the planned economy of the capital investments in IT infrastructure will make 57 million rubles until the end of 2015.

"Selecting the equipment for creation of a data processing center, we were guided by performance measures which will allow to guarantee to our customers permanently high level of SLA. Thanks to project implementation based on server solutions of IBM and DWH of IBM Storwize v7000, the KAMAZ group managed to increase the power of computing resources of IT systems twice", - the associate director of the IT park Iskander Dinislamov told.

Contractor

The contractor at execution of the project selected GAU "IT park" which already implemented before a number of projects for the company.

The basis of a server hardware platform of GAU "IT park" is formed by solutions of IBM company. In particular, 40 IBM System x3650 servers, 52 IBM Blade Center H bleyd-servers and also storage systems of IBM Storwize v7000 with a total amount more than 300 of Tb were a part of a data processing center of IT park.

"This year IBM in addition invested $6 million in development of regional offices in Russia and the CIS", - the director of IBM in regions of Russia and the CIS countries Mikhail Seryogin told. A part of means went for development of presence at GAU "IT park".
