In December, 2012 the ABBYY company announced release of tools of the developer for image processing of ABBYY Mobile Imaging SDK for platforms Apple iOS and Google Android. Tools allow to define whether pictures of documents are suitable for the subsequent recognition and also contain a number of functions for improvement of visual quality of photos.
Input of documents by means of mobile devices becomes more and more demanded. Smartphones and tablets as compact terminals of remote access to corporate information systems allow to use solutions of many producers today. The documents photographed by the mobile device often are transferred for recognition and further archiving, the publication or transfer to clients, partners or colleagues. At the same time, distortions of perspective, illumination, color, etc. are characteristic of such photos ABBYY Mobile Imaging SDK is intended for elimination of similar defects.

SDK eliminates distortions of perspective, executes manual and automatic cutting of photos, automatic detection of edges, binarization, inversion, brightness control and many other functions which in most cases allow to improve image quality considerably.
ABBYY Mobile Imaging SDK is suitable for use in local or cloud solutions which allow to process texts from pictures of mobile devices and require the maximum accuracy of recognition. A set of the detectors which are a part of SDK allows to define directly after shooting whether the received image is suitable for recognition, or it is better to make a copy of it. Detectors will warn if the picture turned out indistinct, overexposed or there is a lot of digital "noise".
As a part of SDK there are predetermined sets of settings focused on typical scenarios of document handling, for example, on processing of business cards, receipts, the stamped papers made on the run of pictures, etc. Tools support preserving of the processed images in the PDF, PNG and JPEG formats.
In combination with other technologies of ABBYY for recognition and stream input of documents, such as ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine, ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK, new tools of the developer allows to create solutions of the corporate level in which mobile devices are used as a reliable versatile tool for input of documents or data.
Such solutions are especially relevant in the banks, insurance companies, public institutions and other organizations having a wide branch network and the employees who are often working out of office. High quality of technologies of ABBYY will allow mobile users quickly and to effectively process information from insurance claims, tax declarations, passports, driver's licenses, payment orders and receipts, different client forms and other documents.
