IP video surveillance by the retail organizations for security and prevention of plunders
The Axis Communications - announced at the beginning of 2013 survey results of "CCTV in Retail 2012". The survey which is carried out by Axis in October, 2012 shows growth of adoption of IP technologies of video surveillance by the retail organizations for security and prevention of plunders and also their growing interest in interfunctional use of the systems of a digital video, such as video by the analyst and integration of outlet (POS) for improvement of sales, marketing and operational efficiency.

For the report of "CCTV in Retail 2012" information from 47 national and regional retailers on use them the companies of video surveillance, information on effects of video surveillance and additional use of the digital IP systems beyond the scope of security and prevention of losses was collected (LP - Loss Prevention).
All companies apply video surveillance in the storages now, nearly 64 percent of storages are connected to IP systems in this or that type.
While the similar research Loss Prevention Research Council's (LPRC 2010) showed that only at 31.3 percent of respondents there were IP cameras or a combination of IP / Analog in their storages. Also the awareness on use of intellectual functions for the purpose of out of security and LP grew.
Results of the report of "CCTV in Retail 2012" include:
Migration to IP of video:
- In 2010 two thirds of respondents told that they use systems only for analog video surveillance, in comparison with about one third, having only the analog systems today;
- From those who use only the analog systems 43 percent say that they have on hand the strategy of migration to IP, and 21.4 percent would like to create such plan in the future;
- The best image quality of HDTV and integration with other business systems and intellectual video were the main drivers for decision making for IP video;
- Only 38.5 percent of respondents with the IP connected digital systems have an access to conduct video surveillance via the mobile device while 87.5 percent would like to have it;
- "The cost of technology updating" remained the biggest obstacle to go to IP video while increase in interfunctional use of a digital video for improvement of sales, useful operational effects and new opportunities of lecture of income can lead to budget deposits from other divisions.
Intellectual video for sales, marketing and operational efficiency:
- From retailers who use IP video systems for interfunctional advantages outside security and LP 93 percent saw a positive impact on transaction while 40 percent noted a positive impact on commercial production planning;
- Nearly a quarter of respondents integration" the main driver to go to network / to IP systems called "Integration into business intellectual video, such as analytics and POS;
- The number of respondents not of the LP expecting to use in the future more and more analytical applications, increased up to 46.3 percent, unlike 27 percent unrolling these functions in 2010;
- Use of the Dwell Time Analysis functions (Timing analysis) - 20 percent and Heat Map or Hot/Cold Zone (Cards of hot and cold zones) increased by 18.2 percent in 2012 while 38.3 percent of respondents use video to the analyst to detect fraud with POS;
- Queue Counters (Queue counters) are used by less than 10 percent of the considered companies, however 50 percent say that they can use this application in the future. In the same way, while none of respondents told that they use today Out of Stock Alerts (Warnings of Absence in a warehouse), more than 56 percent say that they can use them in the future;
- Nearly 32 percent of respondents use video surveillance better to analyze attendance of shop and consumer behavior, 20 percent use video to measure efficiency of the prodakt-pleysment and layout of goods on shelves;
- More than 60 percent of respondents told that, the biggest shortcoming is the absence of specialists to control or analyze video data and to use intellectual functions and preventive warnings.
Other interesting statistical information – the fact that nearly three quarters of heads use secret video cameras for prevention of plunders (LP).
Heads of retail say that IP of video gives them bigger permission, flexibility and the best opportunities for future updating.
