2021: Falling under US sanctions
On August 9, 2021, the United States imposed sanctions against Belaruskali, a number of Belarusian businessmen, 15 related companies and the Belarusian Absolute Bank.
Later in August, Absolbank informed individual customers that it was stopping certain operations, including the issuance and maintenance of Visa payment cards.
The sending and issuance of transfers in the international system of Western Union is also stopped, and in general, transfers of funds in foreign currency are suspended, with the exception of transfers in Russian rubles and transfers to accounts in resident banks.
