T-Mobile (SecurAccess)

The T-Mobile mobile operator implemented the solution for remote authentication using the mobile phone.

T-Mobile wanted to provide to the remote workers secure access to corporate resources using the mobile phone. For this purpose the operator addressed security experts of data transmission from SecurEnvoy company.

The solutions SecurAccess and SecurICE proposed by the company are based on the principle of bestokenny two-factor authentication. The staff of T-Mobile will be able to be identified, being in any place, using the mobile phone using which the password and dynamically generated code password will be received for login. According to representatives of SecurEnvoy, "it will allow to provide secure remote access to corporate network".

Today 15 thousand remote workers of the company use the software solution SecurAccess. Besides, 2 thousand office employees of T-Mobile became the first users of the software solution SecurICE for safe authentication in emergency situations. This service of SecurEnvoy is provided at failures and abnormal cases, allowing the employee immediately and to safely get access to network of the company if he is temporarily not able to reach the office, told in the company.

Thus, instead of using tokens or smart cards, the staff of T-Mobile can enter into network through SecurAccess now, using process of safe two-factor authentication. The first factor is the password set by the user, and the second factor is the code which is dynamically generated through SecurAccess which a system can send by e-mail, through the SMS or through the application on the mobile phone of the user.

"If the employee wants to get access to corporate network, it will be offered to it to enter both factors. As soon as the code password generated by a system is used, SecurAccess will send the new code to the mobile phone of the user, thereby constantly providing the staff of T-Mobile with the existing access code to corporate network — explained in SecurEnvoy. — As each employee knows only two factors corresponding to him, any third unauthorized party will not be able to get access to network and to delete data".

Implementation of software solutions of SecurEnvoy allowed T-Mobile to save time and means as it was not required to purchase in addition expensive hardware keys of security and to provide user training to work with them.

"We wanted to simplify work of our mobile employees, having saved at the same time the high level of security. Originally we used physical tokens, however such approach it was extremely difficult and not really convenient, but SecurAccess allowed to fix these problems" — Darren Uestmor, the project manager from T-Mobile said, having added also that, in addition to everything, SecurAccess and SecurICE added to products of T-Mobile the new level of functionality.
