The Veeam Software company, the developer of solutions for management of backup, replication and virtualization in environments VMware vSphere and Windows Server Hyper-V, announced in February, 2013 release of Veeam Backup Cloud Edition — the first solution for backup in "cloud".

Veeam Backup Cloud Edition easily turns a public cloud environment into convenient storage of backup copies, providing an available alternative to storage on tape drives and to remote backup.

According to developers, the solution is not tied to any one cloud environment: Veeam Backup Cloud Edition supports 15 public cloud storages, including Microsoft Azure Amazon S3 Amazon Glacier, Rackspace and HP Cloud and also additional cloud storages on a basis OpenStack.

Copying of a repository of backup copies in a cloud is made automatically according to the schedule. At transfer and storage in a cloud backup copies are archived, deduplitsirutsya and ciphered using the set password (different algorithms up to AES256 are supported), allows to avoid the risks of information security connected with trust to information security of cloud provider.

The administrator can configure email notification about the status of task performance of copying of backup copies in a cloud. Installation of a limit of consumption by a product of resources of the cloud expressed in gigabytes or in dollars is possible. Setup of level of consumption of resources of the Internet channel - as at the moment time, and according to the schedule is possible. It allows to configure, for example, consumption at the level of 10% in working hours of the company and for 100% in the rest of the time. The product is easy-to-customize regarding work with the selected cloud platform and does not demand from the user of specific technical knowledge - thus the user can select a cloud platform, based on the economic interests, without pressing in technical features of integration with it.

Veeam Backup Cloud Edition differs in broad functionality and provides: automation — copying of backup copies in "cloud" in the automatic mode according to the schedule; security — use of compression and deduplication of data and also accomplishment of 256-bit AES enciphering; notifications — sending status reports on backup copies in "cloud"; cost estimation — payment calculation separately for cloud environments, a limit task in GB or a cash equivalent; the diagram of capacity — bandwidth control in real time, independent control of resource availability of network in working time.

At the same time, the solution differs in simple installation. Users do not need to master API of the cloud storage; for work just it is necessary to enter required credentials into Veeam Backup Cloud Edition. The solution also does not require acquisition of the additional hardware. At the same time users pay only really used space for storage.
