On February 14, 2013 the Huawei company presented the network solution SoftCOM with the cloud computing architecture using SDN. The solution is designed to help operators with solving of tasks, connected with the rapid changes happening in the industry. The main idea of Huawei SoftCOM – any of actions for upgrade of network should be guided by the principle of its simplification. With growth of functional requirements of networks they become harder and harder that delivered all industry before need of review of the concept of a network architecture. SoftCOM is a step to the solution of difficult tasks, resource allocation optimization, and, as a result, to simplification of all process of functioning of network.

'The architecture of modern networks does not conform to constantly growing requirements. We know that operators make considerable efforts for fast upgrade of networks, aiming to keep up with the growing requirements of subscribers to bandwidth and the personalized services. But as a result of an investment of operators are insufficiently profitable, and the current networks do not meet their expectation. All participants of the industry should realize that time for changes in management of architecture of network came, and these changes should be complex. The strategy of SoftCOM are the cornerstone the following principles:

  • Upgrade to a cloud computing architecture at the level of the equipment – reduction of coherence of the equipment and software;
  • Upgrade to a cloud computing architecture at the level of network – reduction of coherence of functions of readdressing and management;
  • Upgrade to a cloud computing architecture of all IT industry – transformation of traditional IT infrastructure to cloud;
  • Orientation to the Internet – transformation of the systems focused on telecommunications in systems focused on the Internet.

In a combination to the strategy of upgrade of Huawei SoftCOM offers the strategy of "intensive upgrade and extensive monetization" for the help to operators in decrease in the total ownership cost (TCO) and creation of the innovation business models with open networks.

"Intensive upgrade" means optimization of network, conversion of the existing model with high capital and operating costs in model from much lower TCO due to abstraction of network, increase in its programmability, simplification and automation of control functions due to use of SDN, NFV and technologies of cloud computing.

The strategy of SoftCOM Huawei promotes simplification of structural reduction of TCO. Upgrade to a cloud computing architecture at the level of the equipment will allow to distribute more flexibly network resources and to optimize their use. It will increase scalability of networks, will allow to configure more precisely their functions, and considerably will reduce time of an exit of services for the market. Upgrade to a cloud computing architecture at the level of network will allow to consolidate possibilities of network and to make it more intellectual.
