Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts of A.S. Pushkin completed digitization of a part of museum fund

The Prosoft-PK company (ELAR Corporation) delivered A2VTs Planskan ELAR planetary scanner in Department of manuscripts of Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

The department of manuscripts of Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts locates the fund exceeding 66 thousand units of storage. The prevailing its part is made by materials of personal origin. The bulk of fund belongs to the second half of the 19-20th centuries, separate documents are dated the end of the 18th century.

At digitization of rare materials special attention is paid to security of originals and high quality of the received digital images. The contactless method of scanning of ELAR Planskan of A2VTs completely excludes mechanical impact on originals. A unique reprosistema of illumination, without allowing heating and harmful effects of light, ensures safety of paper and ink. The modern optical system gives the chance to receive high-quality digital images at any status of the original that allows to use fully them for a broad spectrum of tasks.

A2VTs Planskan ELAR scanner for Department of manuscripts is not the only equipment supplied by ELAR to Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts of A.S. Pushkin. Earlier the corporation delivered the Planskan scanner S2-TsA-600 for Scientific library of the museum.

Project Results

On August 25, 2015 ELAR corporation announced end of the next stage of the project of digitization of accounting books and fillings of electronic depositary of Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

Specialists of the contractor scanned 500 accounting books dated for 2006 - 2014, carried out systems analysis of electronic images of the documents transferred to an electronic form earlier.

Yulia Tsareva, the project manager of production management of ELAR, noted: "In some stock record books of special fund within several years the additional information and that the created digital resource was uniform and complete was entered, again filled turns scanned repeatedly".

During the course of performance works of the first stage of the project the index and search base of accounting documents of the museum containing about 900 thousand records for loading in the accounting system KAMIS is created.

"Among features of works, - Lev Nol managing the sector of the automated accounting and share system of Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts of A.S. Pushkin told, - it is possible to call manual entry of new unique records in different foreign languages from the accounting books relating to fund of an engraving and the drawing".

It is supposed that by the end of 2015 digital images of accounting books will fill up the electronic depositary of digital arrays of Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts of A.S. Pushkin integrated with the museum accounting system. On collections of funds of an engraving and the drawing, numismatics, arts of the countries of Europe and America, department of the East, department of Antiquity, personal collections will be complemented with information of stock record books the official portal of Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the satellite websites. The project of digitization of accounting books of the museum will help to improve processes of accounting, storage, studying and systematization of museum objects and will enrich possibilities of representation of collections of Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts of A.S. Pushkin on the Internet.
