The Dell corporation provided a line of firewalls of new generation of Dell SonicWall SuperMassive 9000 Series in March, 2013. According to developers, it meets requirements of corporate networks to security, productivity, expansibility and high performance. New firewalls provide a comprehensive protection, including from external invasions and action of the malicious software. At the same time they support gigabit speeds and have almost zero latency.
The line of SuperMassive 9000 Series includes models 9600, 9400 and 9200 and offers work at a speed up to 12 Gbps. All new modules are constructed based on high-performance multinuclear architecture and placed in the body which helps to save space, expenses on the electric power and cooling, claim in Dell.
So, the compact body of a form factor 1U is developed with the purpose to optimize the total ownership cost of infrastructure and taking into account requirements of modern corporate data processing centers to energy consumption, the occupied physical space and the cooling system. Thanks to availability of four interfaces of SFP+ 10GbE, sixteen interfaces 1GbE and a separate control interface SuperMassive 9000 Series firewalls can be implemented in the most different networks as the traditional gateway or as the additional security level — in the Transparent Bridge mode (Layer 2) or Wire.
"After installation of the solutions Dell SonicWall SuperMassive we received tenfold increase in productivity — Joe Gomes, the director of technologies and the systems of the center of pediatric epidemiology at the university of the Southern Florida said. — We not only saved $100 thousand, but also increased the capacity and capacity that allowed us to support new study programs".
"Volumes, forms and refinement of the modern malicious software represent a serious problem for corporate computer networks — Patrick Sweeney, the chief executive of the product Dell SonicWall direction considers. — At the same time, it is difficult for organization to find balance between the speed and level of protection. Dell SonicWall SuperMassive 9000 Series firewalls are created for the solution of this problem due to technologies of level of provider of services".
Unlike the existing firewalls and technologies of protection against invasions, the solutions Dell SonicWall SuperMassive 9000 Series block the attacks before penetration into network. The patented Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) technology which analyzes all traffic regardless of port and the protocol helps with it, explained in Dell. The RFDPI technology scans each byte of each packet on each connection, providing thorough inspection of all threats given for blocking. Besides, the technology is capable to inspect the ciphered SSL traffic and the isolated applications.
While RFDPI provides protection against the attacks, the Application Intelligence and Control function helps to make sure of optimal productivity and network transmission capacity by means of identification of productive and unproductive traffic in real time. According to Dell, control is exercised using effective rules at the level of applications. Network administrators can manage completely operation of applications depending on the current purposes of the enterprise, limit unproductive applications and block potentially unwanted.
