Official release of Surveillance Station 8.2
On September 13, 2018 the Synology company announced official release of Surveillance Station 8.2. The release includes LiveCam, the application for surveillance cameras. As it was reported, mobile version of LiveCam for iOS is already released, and the version for Android will appear by October, 2018. The updated application of DS cam provides higher performance and also additional support of IP loudspeakers.
The combination of applications of LiveCam on iOS and the updated DS cam turns phone into the surveillance camera and makes the finished shooting materials available to the DS cam application. Beta of Surveillance Station 8.2
On July 18, 2018 the Synology company announced a release of the beta of Surveillance Station 8.2. In this version the LiveCam application for surveillance cameras which allows to turn phone into the IP camera is implemented. The updated application of DS cam provides higher performance, broad compatibility and support of IP loudspeakers. Center of applications Surveillance Station provides more flexible management by packets. The notes and offers received during beta testing will get a response in official release of Surveillance Station 8.2, noted in Synology.
The beta of Surveillance Station 8.2 includes a number of additional functions:
- An opportunity to use phone as the camera using the LiveCam tool: the mobile device can serve as the IP camera. After the LiveCam installation on the mobile phone it is possible to add it to Surveillance Station as the IP camera with record support online.
- Enhanced capabilities of Center of applications: contains up to 26 applications and utilities. Using the filter on categories or keyword-based search it is possible to find quickly the necessary application and to configure Surveillance Station with its help.
- The updated application of DS cam providing the high performance and compatibility: The DS cam application not only provides more convenient viewing, but also contains several time lines for intuitive search of videos. Besides, thanks to automatic authentication of the license it is possible to perform system deployment even quicker.
- Support of IP loudspeakers: Surveillance Station 8.2 can transmit a sound or perform the planned broadcastings using the built-in IP loudspeakers. In the presence of several loudspeakers it is possible to perform single or group broadcasting also.
- Viewing long record using function of preset time: Function of preset time allows to reduce long videos to several minutes or even seconds. This application is useful for demonstration of the large-scale project from the beginning before end.
- Data protection using double authorization: Double authorization increases the level of protection of separate functions, for example, control of cameras or gaining access to videos, requiring additional authorization of the authorized person. Such measure of protection allows to prevent leak of confidential information.
- Stream transfer to any region of the world using broadcasting in real time through YouTube — additional settings are not required. It is just necessary to select the camera and to enter the way specified on the website of YouTube. Stream broadcasting in real time can be started.

Beta 8.1
The Synology company at the end of June announced a release of the beta of the application Surveillance Station 8.1.
Thanks to function of remote archiving of records and integration with POS and systems for work with video the beta of Surveillance Station 8.1 represents the full solution for network retail stores. Thanks to integration into chatter boxes and a possibility of automatic switching between the different security levels on the basis of geozones the beta of Surveillance Station 8.1 ensures convenience and safety to home users — Ruby Lin, the product manager of Synology Inc company said. — Implementation of function of acceleration of the graphic processor considerably reduces load of the processor and provides much smoother video playback. The functions provided to betas of Surveillance Station 8.1:
- Remote archiving of records: function is intended for problem solving, the network shops arising in the majority which branches have limited space for data storage. Users can configure write time and type of an event for archiving at head office, using storage systems of head office or to configure runtime of problems of archiving and to provide bandwidth control that problems of archiving did not break normal network functioning.
- Integration of POS: now shops can monitor transactions and the corresponding video clips and also quickly solve the conflicts of transactions by means of search of reports from a story with the help of the intuitive interface. Users can also configure notifications on events for unforeseen transactions or use the Rule of Actions application.
- Integration into the camera of the chatter box: the camera of the chatter box is a multi-function printer which provides video surveillance, control of "A call to a door", "Closing of a door", a bilateral sound and other functions. In addition to these functions and a search capability of reports from history, in Surveillance Station it is possible to use functions of a bilateral sound and one-time access manually through the DS cam application. It allows to interact with visitors irrespective of location of the user.
- Home mode mode: the beta of Surveillance Station 8.1 provides two different modes of security for security of the house depending on whether the user is at home or not. Users can switch between security modes manually, according to the schedule or on a geozone. When switching in other mode of security a system will use other schedule of records, other notification settings, profiles of stream transfer and also activates certain rules of actions.
- Support of HTML5: now it is possible not to be limited to the Surveillance Station Client application or plug-ins set in Internet Explorer and Safari during the work with Surveillance Station. Thanks to support of HTML5 implemented in the beta of Surveillance Station 8.1 it is possible to browse video clips in Chrome now.
- Acceleration of GP: acceleration of the graphic processor (GP) is supported in the version of Surveillance Station Client now for OS Windows. Function allows to reduce considerably loading on processor and provides much smoother video playback.
Surveillance Station 8.0
On January 18, 2017 Synology announced a release of version 8.0 of the Surveillance Station application. In this release are provided optimized client applications for the PC, intellectual technology of multistream transfer and a possibility of setup of fast abnormal switching.

As a part of Surveillance Station 8.0 a number of the additional[1]:
- watching video in real time
- circuit management in the browser and via the client application
- support of automatic and manual correction of permission, depending on the size of a window of monitoring or type of an event,
- reduces consumption of bandwidth when viewing several channels
- automatic switching to higher resolution at emergence of important events - provides rational use of resources of storage during continuous record.
In this version additional rules of actions and types of events for fuller automation of a video surveillance system are supported. An opportunity to combine logical operators and different events allows to start actions at accomplishment of one or all set conditions.
To reduce a downtime, to provide compatibility with different servers and to lower housekeeping overheads and management, it is possible to include function of abnormal switching to CMS.
Thanks to support of the new H.265 codec the list of compatible cameras extended, and economy of bandwidth makes up to 25% now. Higher speed of stream transfer in a write mode is provided and when watching video in real time. Also the optimized H.264+ codecs (Hikvision), Smart Stream (Vivotek) and ZAVIO are supported.
The updated microprogram allows to connect VS360HD to NAS and to manage practically all Surveillance Station functions on the VS360HD device. Besides, the QuickConnect ID and HTTPS functions providing secure access to Surveillance Station from any place in the world are supported.
2016: Surveillance Station 7.2
In March, 2016 Synology Inc. provided official release of Surveillance Station 7.2. In this version of a software package for video registration and video monitoring support of modules of input-output, (CMS) updated the system of central office and the interface of watching video in real time are implemented (Live View).

At connection of modules of input-output Surveillance Station becomes the automated center with an ability to manage: lighting, electromagnetic locks, motion sensors, etc. The module of control of sensors of input-output is completely integrated with Synology CMS and function of "the rule of action" (Action Rules) and can serve for control of a set of sensors, organizing their interaction with other devices, noted in the company.
The QuickConnect function is completely integrated with the CMS function that allows to provide secure access to servers without difficult settings of network. Besides, HTTPS supports cross-server communications. Now administrators of CMS can receive the combined notifications on identical events.
According to Synology, the interval of the reference personnel can be configured manually for ensuring necessary balance when coding video: the small period of time between the reference personnel will provide stability and quality of a video flow while increase in an interval reduces a network load.
The interface for watching video in real time of Live View Surveillance Station using the Auto-layout function is automatically rebuilt under the number of the displayed channels of video. The optimized E-Maps function gives the chance of more evident submission of schemes — now the user can select and place different icons of the changeable size, for example, the IP camera, the camera "fish eye", modules of input-output and sensors of doors.
And at last, the NVR216 video recorder with new Surveillance Station received the functionality allowing the administrator to create, delete and appoint individual access rights to users directly from the device interface displaid on the local monitor at direct connection on a HDMI cable.
Surveillance Station 7.2 is already available in the center of packets DiskStation Manager to the NVR216 video recorders and all Synology DiskStation and RackStation devices working under control of DSM 6.0.
2014: Surveillance Station 6.3
On July 5, 2014 it became known of an exit of the updated software module of Surveillance Station 6.3 of Synology company.
The module provides the high performance and reliability, is equipped with the convenient system of navigation. In the new version two free licenses on preliminary installation of cameras are offered.
Surveillance Station 6.3 provides viewing to 64 channels of video in real time and permission 720p on the single interface. The software module supports online broadcasting on mobile devices in the configured quality for the guaranteed smoothness of the image.
The new version supports digital shooting, allowing to keep record continuously even at failures in network or when shooting in the movement, for example in the train or the bus. Support of panoramic and multilens cameras increases efficiency of their use and cuts down maintenance costs. More than 2700 models of IP cameras are integrated into the updated Surveillance Station 6.3 for expansion of opportunities and flexibility of deployment now.
Advanced screen opportunities of Surveillance Station and support of the joystick of a security system helps to include the bigger number of cameras, increasing performance. The plug-in Surveillance Web Plugin which is specially developed for MAC OS improves performance to six times.

Synology Surveillance Station 6
The Synology company released in the spring of 2013 the beta of the solution Surveillance Station 6 which allows to manage means of video surveillance using the central management system (CMS) with support of ONVIF S and Mobotix MxPEG.
CMS from Synology was developed for large-scale and multilevel corporate projects of video surveillance. It centralizes dataflow control from IP cameras and the writing servers, including allows to set to the user or a user group of right of access to credentials, to browse images in real time, to reproduce historical records, to analyze video images from several IP cameras. It is also possible to create filters by different criteria, such as list of cameras and record, for the fast and unified search.
Support in Surveillance Station 6 Beta of the certificate ONVIF S provides interaction with a broad range of the IP cameras supporting this standard thereby simplifying work of users on decision making and systems management of security and video surveillance. Besides, Surveillance Station supports now the Mobotix MxPEG codec which requires less than the power and the place for storage, providing at the same time a high image quality.
Observation of buildings, shopping centers, railway stations , etc. requires a huge number of cameras and the writing servers. Extremely important for IT of managers to have reliable, scalable and with a uniform point of management of all structure a system. CMS was specially developed under these needs.
Watch forward translations or browse records, carry out the intellectual analysis of video, according to access rights, configure cameras and licenses, notifications, electronic maps: all this is centralized in a CMS host for effective management. The list of compatibility Surveillance Station was expanded and now includes more than 1400 IP cameras from 58 producers.
