Political views

At promotion in the Federation Council of the 1st convocation in November, 1993 Alexander Volkov acted as the supporter of economic independence of the Udmurt Republic. The industry of Udmurtia, according to Alexander Volkov, is an arsenal of Russia which scientific and industrial potential needs to be saved.

In the election program said that in Federal Assembly "there have to be people, aware practical problems, but not theorists". According to Alexander Volkov, it is necessary to adopt such laws which "would provide increase in welfare of the people (today's reforms are far from it), improved the system of taxation which is inefficient today and cannot stimulate production".

Expressed for benefit of taking measures for "industry work revival" that, according to Volkov, will create guarantees from unemployment.

At the same time Volkov believed that agriculture should remain subsidized and that it is necessary to stop increase in prices for agricultural machinery and the fuels and lubricants directed to the village. Expressed opinion on inadmissibility of the state intervention in a question of the choice by peasants of forms of housekeeping.

On November 3, 2009 - made a speech at a political meeting on the Central square of Izhevsk the meeting, organized by the Udmurt regional department of the United Russia Party and to the devoted National Unity Day and the 89th anniversary of statehood of Udmurtia took place. In the told speeches that the unity and unity of the people of multinational Russia were and will always be a perennial spring of its development, strengthening of its economic potential, an incentive to mastering of new tops in science, education and culture. Alexander Volkov expressed confidence that the unity and unity of residents of Udmurtia will help the republic to overcome effects of world financial and economic crisis and to leave it among the most dynamically developing Russian regions^[5].
