Creation of the data warehouse for formation of analytical reports based on SAP BI

JSC Concern Kalina is the cosmetic company which is releasing and offering to the consumers in Russia, the countries of Europe and the CIS a big variety of cosmetic products and household chemicals. The company is the leader in a segment of care products for skin and one of leaders in a segment of care products for an oral cavity in the Russian market and the markets of the CIS countries. The headquarters and the main production capacities of Kalina Concern are located to Yekaterinburg (Russia). The structure of Concern, in addition to head enterprise in Yekaterinburg, includes the enterprises "Pallada-Ukraina", "Glavskazka International", "Dr. Scheller Beauty Center", "Kalina Finance", Kalina International SA (Switzerland), Kalina Overseas Holding B.V. (Netherlands) and DSN Cosmetics GmbH (Germany).
JSC Concern Kalina is the public company following the advanced standards of corporate management. Stocks of Concern are in free circulation on the Russian stock exchanges and in the off-exchange (OTC) market abroad (in the form of American and global depositary receipts.)
Task
Increase in efficiency of divisions of Concern regarding formation of the management reporting, the analysis of financial results and preparation of analytical information for acceptance of management decisions was a main objective of implementation.
Description of implementation
The project was implemented in the environment of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 in the systems SAP R/3, SAP BI.
In the project progress of Parma Telecom LLC preproject inspection was executed and technical specifications are prepared, project works included: creation of a target data model of SAP BI storage, creation and activation of necessary data sources of external systems (SAP R/3, ORACLE DB, FLATFILE). Setup of data streams (transformations, rules of updating, packets), creation of chains of processes for daily automatic loading of basic data, texts (reference books) and transaction data of the management reporting, and implementation of a distribution model of the user powers.
Result
Analytical opportunities of the solution included more than 50 report forms, on the basis of such data as: actual sales of finished goods of Concern, actual secondary sales of finished goods, planned/forecast sales of finished goods, planned cost of finished goods, actual demand for finished goods, etc.
As a part of the solution the subsystem of charge of bonuses to dealers of Concern was developed. The subsystem gave opportunities of the regulated calculation of different types of awards to dealers for the approved algorithms, with the four-level system of a statement; a possibility of formation of the Actual sales of NET in the management reporting, providing protocols to dealers on the basis of the amounts of the added bonuses and these cost contracts loaded into the data warehouse. This tool allowed to bring order and to considerably accelerate process of settlement with clients of concern, to improve relationship between services, responsible for calculation and use of bonuses, to cut down expenses due to ensuring transparency and observance of the rules of trade policy put in a basis of algorithms of bonus calculation.
