Atlas (hockey club)

History of club

The team was made in 2005 as a result of moving from Voskresensk of Himik club on the arena built in the run-up to the World Cup-2007 in the city of Mytishchi.

On April 2, 2008 it is officially announced renaming of HK "Chemist" of MO into hockey club "Atlant" the Moscow region. Thus, HK "Atlas" became the legal successor of hockey club "Himik" the Moscow region.

In a season 2008/09 new Atlant club for the first time participated in the new championship under the auspices of the Kontinental Hockey League. In it play the best teams of Russia and neighboring countries – Belarus, Latvia and Kazakhstan, since 2011 – Slovakia, since 2012 – the Czech Republic.

Atlanta which sponsor was the Moscow region getting into the final of the playoffs of KHL in 2011 became the highest achievement.

The budget of club in a season of 2012/2013 made slightly less than 1 billion rubles, at the same time the command hardly got to the playoffs where conceded to SKA from St. Petersburg in five matches.

2013: Message about purchase of club by Anton Zingarevich

In the middle of April, 2013 it became known that the famous Russian businessman Anton Zingarevich should become the new owner of the hockey club "Atlant" acting in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in the nearest future, reported to the R-Sport agency the source close to a situation.

The tripartite negotiations between Atlas, the government of the Moscow region and Anton Zingarevich continuing within the last three months are close to end. In the nearest future all official papers will be signed, reported a source.

The Ministry of Sport of Moscow area in 2012 adopted the program which purpose is search of private sponsors for professional clubs of the region^[1].

• 2009/10 – 11th place, KHL. Fedor Kanareykin (till October 27, 2009), the deputy Valery Bragin and Nikolay Borschevsky (since November 9, 2009)
• 2010/11 – 2nd place, KHL. Nikolay Borschevsky (till October 5, 2010), the deputy Vyacheslav Uvayev, Milos Rzhiga (since October 14, 2010)
• 2011/12 – 8th place, KHL. Head coaches – Bengt Oka Gustafsson (till November 3, 2011), Yanne Carlson – since November 4, 2011.
• 2012/13 – 16th place, KHL. Head coaches – Yanne Carlson (till October 21, 2012), Alexander Smirnov – (from October 21, 2012 to November 17, 2012 in the rank of the deputy), Sergey Svetlov – since November 17, 2012.
