In April, 2013. The federal budgetary institution "Russian Center of Protection of the Wood" (Roslesozashchita) started testing of the tablet computers intended for implementation of the functions by engineers forest pathologists.

Duties of the last consist in collection of information about a sanitary and lesopatologichesky status of the woods, observation of violation of their stability, defeat by harmful organisms and other negative impacts of natural and anthropogenic character, observation of the adverse factors influencing a status of the woods.

The cost of one tablet for engineers forest pathologists was about 43 thousand rubles.

The data obtained during such monitoring form in extensive bases, and based on the carried-out works the forecast of development in forests of pathological processes and the phenomena and also assessment of their possible effects is given.

Within technical retrofitting Roslesozashchita bought for forest pathologists two hundred tablets of the corporate level of Motorola of ET1 with the 7-inch display using which specialists will enter data of monitoring in field conditions.

In addition to devices fastenings on a hand for carrying tablets, styluses for control of tablets, additional rechargeable accumulators, charging USB cables and bags for carrying the tablet on a belt also were a part of purchase. The total cost of purchase was 10.75 million rubles, and the average price of one tablet calculated on the basis of proposals of several suppliers was about 43 thousand rubles.

Roslesozashchita says that testing of tablets should come to the end prior to the beginning of a field season then devices will come to branches of the organization for equipment of specialists.
