Content

The Samsung Electronics company applies the storage created on the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 FastTrack DataWarehouse platform, thanks to this solution the company analyzes in 10 times more information, than earlier and has the broad picture of energy costs, including on level of consumption of energy each device used at the plant, the press service of vendor reported on April 24, 2013.

Goal

One of strategic priorities of Samsung Electronics - reduction of energy costs, minimization of influence on the environment. In 2009 for this purpose at the plant on production of semiconductors in the city of Hvasung (South Korea), the electricity consumption monitoring system is implemented. Collected data are used for development corresponding the politician of management of energy costs.

After start of a system became obvious that more detailed data on electricity consumption and higher flexibility are required for Samsung Electronics in the analysis of data retrieveds. Samsung Electronics made the decision to implement more large-scale monitoring system and to create storage in which necessary data will gather and be processed.

Solution

As the platform of a new system the solution Microsoft SQL Server 2012 FastTrack DataWarehouse is taken. As the hardware HP servers of ProLiant DL980 G7 and the EMC Symmetrix VMAX platform are selected.

Result

Software Microsoft SQL Server 2012 FastTrack DataWarehouse allowed to increase monitoring system performance in general. The storage volume near the 45th terabyte processes 6 gigabytes of data per second.
