Uraltransbank carries out upgrade of storage systems

JSC Uraltransbank, Jet Infosystems company and Hitachi Data Systems corporation announced on April 26, 2013 project completion of upgrade of a storage system: in infrastructure of DWH the Hitachi HUS 130 disk array is implemented, replacement of the SAN switches by more productive is made, a system is optimized taking into account the increased performance requirements.

Details

Rapid development of bank defined new requirements to IT infrastructure regarding DWH. In particular, information systems of the company store and process the increasing information volume that requires higher level of consolidation of data, so, increases in volume of disk space, performance improvement and reliability of storage.

The bank selected the Hitachi HUS 130 platform. The tender for implementation was won by Jet Infosystems company.

Specific Features

Simultaneous use of technology of Hitachi Dynamic Tiering (HDT) earlier available only to arrays of the senior level, and Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning became distinctive feature of the project. Use of disk resources is as a result most optimized, total costs on data storage are reduced, as a result, performance of the applied systems, critical for business considerably increased (in particular, time of processing of input-output operations was reduced by 4 times).

"The combination of two software solutions implemented by Jet Infosystems company – Dynamic Tiering and Dynamic Provisioning – based on an array of HUS 130 allowed to create a unique environment for data storage which can flexibly be scaled and be complemented according to the growing requirements of bank, – the head of department of IT of JSC Uraltransbank Artur Novruzov noted. – Thanks to the solution not only by 1.5 times backup time was reduced, but also performance of banking systems (for example, the core banking system, processing), and all this increased at the general reduction of storage expenses of data".

The possibility of use of this tool for arrays of the average level was announced by Hitachi Data Systems only at the end of 2012.
