The Segment of the heaviest infrastructure UPSes was considerably separated on technology sign recently. Solutions on IGBT transistors are already rather fulfilled and systematically increase the power. In their asset – the high efficiency and relative compactness. Nevertheless the UPSes constructed on the transformer scheme that guarantees their universal use for protection of the most various devices – against the traditional IT equipment (servers, DWH) to conditioning systems, technology equipment and any combined loading are still extremely demanded. The inverter constructed according to the transformer scheme allows to use the UPS where traditional transistorized circuits cannot provide required peak overload characteristics. Besides, galvanic isolation of an input and exit is implemented that is often demanded on specifications of exploitation of customers.
2016: UPS series of the modular ONL-M type
On May 18, 2016 the Powercom company announced release of modular three-phase UPSes with double conversion of input voltage. A series received the name Powercom ONL-M.
UPSes of the modular ONL-M type are the solution for service of large data processing centers and computer systems and also the equipment providing the continuity of business processes in commercial structures on industrial enterprises, in medical, financial and educational institutions. Modular approach allows, avoiding excess costs, to pick up an optimal set of power modules and batteries at the first stage and to provide a possibility of further accumulation of power without considerable capital investments.
Besides, work on scheme N+1 provides the increased fault tolerance without the need for complete parallel duplication as it becomes in a case with monoblock devices. So for implementation of scheme N+1 it is enough to add the add-on module to the ONL-M UPS configuration that significantly reduces the price of the cost of the received solution. At the same time adding or replacement of modules UPSes can be made without shutdown of a system of uninterrupted power and without involvement of profile specialists. The customer is capable to implement similar works by own efforts.
The line of modular Powercom ONL-M UPSes was developed taking into account all modern requirements of customers, including, to minimization of expenses on primary purchase and also upgrade and hardware maintenance. Use of devices of the ONL-M series allows to reduce operating costs of a third because to service the modular UPS simpler and cheaper, than monoblock.
Functions of the Powercom ONL-M series
- Three-phase online of the UPS with double conversion and zero switching time on batteries
- Electrical power factor - 1 (kVA = kW)
- 20 kW / 30 kW modules
- The Russified LCD display of management
- Scalability on the power and battery life
- Reservation of N+1 or N+X
- High overload capacity
- Different configurations
- External or internal batteries
- Hot swap of power and battery modules
- System of network monitoring
- Simplicity in service and operation
The UPS effectively protects the equipment even at big jumps of power. The device can work within an hour at an overload up to 110%, ten minutes – at 125%, and even at 150% protects the customer's equipment within one minute.
ONL-M are issued in the form of the cabinet expected 30U or 42U for installation of power modules, 20 kVA or 30 kVA. For achievement of necessary time of autonomy it is possible to connect an external battery cabinet with batteries from 9 to 100 Ach or to combine power modules and battery packs in one cabinet.
Efficiency of the device is 94.5% (even during the work not on an overall load) that is a high rate for the equipment of this type.
Use of devices of a lineup allow to create the most reliable system of uninterrupted power having high initial potential and ample opportunities for further upgrade.
2013: Powercom ONL33-II UPS series
The Powercom ONL33-II UPS series, as well as her predecessor of ONL33, is constructed according to the transformer scheme. This extremely reliable, "solid" solution irreplaceable in engineering infrastructure projects where long-term use with the minimum service is supposed. On such devices, for example, the largest project of the beginning of 2012 when at once 70 units of the ONL33 UPS with a power of 120 KVA were installed in health facilities of Moscow was implemented.
Increase in power of a system
At start of a series of three-phase Powercom ONL33-II online UPSes the ONL33 UPS series was subjected to the cardinal upgrade directed to improvement of consumer characteristics of devices: significantly dimensions and weight of the device decreased, functional characteristics are improved, the lineup is expanded to 250 kVA on the separate device, many developments of the company in the field of protection of power supply are implemented.
The standard ONL33-II models are produced with the six-pulse rectifier, but for improvement of compatibility with generator units and decrease in noises of the entrance power supply network optionally can be delivered with the 12-pulse rectifier (from 45 kVA and above). Standardly UPSes support function of smooth start for work with generators. Delivery of modification of the UPS for parallel operation is in addition possible that it allows to create systems with a total power up to 500 kVA.
Reliability and energy saving
When designing the UPS the Powercom company pays attention to an issue of energy saving, and the ONL33-II series did not become an exception in this area. For the purpose of power saving and improvement of the thermal mode of the device the new intelligent system of cooling is implemented. Thanks to the managed fans the UPSes new models reach the optimal cooling effect that positively affects reliability of a system and increases the term of its service.
Modular construction was put in a basis still of ONL33 series of first generation that considerably simplified repair and service. In ONL33 devices of the second generation this principle was implemented to the maximum, thanks to it not only work of service engineers became simpler, but also the weight and dimensions of the device considerably decreased. Thus, requirements to premises for installation of a system of uninterrupted power are reduced. Besides devices have a class of protection IP21 that in addition increases resistance of a system to external influences.
Thanks to the charger of big power all models of the ONL series are expected works with external accumulator blocks of the increased capacity (only 10-and 15-kVA models have the built-in accumulators). For life extension of accumulators the intellectual operation algorithm of the charger allowing to manage the mode of a floating charge is provided.
Interfaces and management
Use of the modern digital signal microprocessor for control of the device provides high stability of power supply and reliability of system operation. Besides, in the new ONL33-II series the user interface is considerably improved. Control is exercised via the 7-inch color touch display with high resolution 800х480 and a possibility of remote connection via the Wi-Fi-module. The new Russified user menu has the built-in system of hints and information messages. For issue of abnormal warnings a system allows to use the voice messages including configured by the user. For fixing of emergency situations the history record of events on a flash card is possible.
It is necessary to tell about a large number of interfaces in the UPS this series. Not only traditional RS-232/485 and the slot for installation of the internal SNMP card, but also an expanded set of "dry" contacts (16 signal and 4 contacts programmed by the user), USB port, network port for remote diagnostics are supported. For use together with ONL33-II the SNMP card with a connectivity of the sensor of monitoring of the environment and two USB ports for connection of the flash drive or the GPRS modem is optionally offered.
