History

2025:20% staff reduction

On November 6, 2025, Tripadvisor, an American traveler service, announced a reorganization in which the number of personnel will decrease by 20%. This measure is aimed at optimizing the structure and business processes in conditions of lack of money.

The restructuring involves merging operations between Tripadvisor and sister platform Viator, which is designed to book tours, excursions, events and entertainment around the world. The company is betting on integrating artificial intelligence to improve the user experience. It is assumed that the changes will help improve operational efficiency, accelerate revenue growth, strengthen operating profitability and create a more sustainable business as a whole.

Tripadvisor cuts 20% of state due to lack of money

As of the end of 2024, Tripadvisor had a workforce of about 2,860. As part of the reorganization, nearly 600 workers at Tripadvisor, Viator and other corporate units will be laid off. The company expects to incur expenses in the amount of $35- $40 million related to severance pay and other payments that are due to reduced employees. Most of these costs will come in the fourth quarter of 2025. In the future, these measures are expected to provide annual savings of at least $85 million.

As noted by the Boston.com resource, Tripadvisor faces various difficulties as the tourism market recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing restructuring is designed to help solve existing problems.[1]
