2013: Sonnet Professional Suite v14
The developer company announced on May 20, 2013 a release of the new version of Sonnet Professional Suite v14.
The main attention in development is paid to interaction with EDA systems (Electronic Design Automation is design automation of electronic instruments. a comment of TAdviser) design of other producers where the software of Sonnet is used in the form of the planar 3D EM computing module designed to execute high-quality extraction of parasitic parameters.
Layers
For simplification of interaction with the EDA systems of design technology layers which represent the description of the objects connected among themselves in Sonnet the EM project, for example, of groups of the general attributes are entered (a layer name, physical provision in a stack of layers, characteristics of metal, parameters of management of a splitting grid).
Technology layers can be defined for planar metal layers, interlayer transitions, dielectric blocks. Determination of layers can be made automatically when importing data in the GDSII and DXF formats, without change of names of layers that allows to save CAD information on layers after consecutive transactions of import and export.
New panels
The Stackup Manager panel is added in the editor of Sonnet Project Editor. It provides the intuitive interface for the description and editing a stack of layers of the modelled structure. The module also provides the graphical interface of management of new technology layers. The Stackup Manager panel automatically appears at the appeal to the data exchange interface with the Cadence Virtuoso and Agilent ADS programs.
Advantages
The new version of a complex works significantly quicker. The version of the Desktop Solver Engine calculator supports parallel computings on 6 cores now (against 3 earlier) that allowed to reach almost double gain of performance. The High Performance Solver calculator in the new version supports parallelization of flows on 32 cores (against 12 earlier), it allows to make the ultra-fast analysis. In addition to multithreading of calculations, the algorithms of creation of grids of splitting aimed at achievement of maximum capacity of the calculator are considerably improved.
Grouping of ports
In version 14 there was a function of automatic grouping with - the calibrated ports, the giving chance to the calculator independently to select and group ports, exempting the engineer from excessive handwork. For activation of a new feature it is rather simple to include setup of grouping with - the calibrated internal ports in the provision Auto and to provide independently to take care of it.
Virtualization and Linux
At the version of Sonnet Professional Suite v14 there is a number of the updates of the graphical interface focused on users of platforms running operating systems of Linux. Additional improvements are made for achievement of the minimum response time of the remote servers using virtual machines at the enterprise level.
2014: Sonnet Professional Suite v14
The Sonnet Software company announced in November, 2014 an exit of Sonnet Professional Suite v15. In this version of Sonnet the possibilities of the calibrated ports and components internal jointly allowing to carry out a complete deembedding of ports on different metalization layers are expanded. With their help the user can execute modeling of the dense multilayer topology requiring vertically located ports or components. Ports of transistors or MEGOHM/MDM of condensers can serve as classical examples.
The interface with the Cadence Virtuoso program underwent the significant changes directed to simplification of obtaining results of EM of modeling. The possibility of placement at a working window of the most often used commands and also an intuitive format of setup of process of modeling will allow save time and efforts. With the updated Cadence interface it is possible to receive results of modeling using only several mouse clicks.
The new graphical user interface DXF/GDSII/Gerber of the translator will allow to control visually process of broadcasting in version 15. A number of new opportunities, such as use of circuit details, instruments of editing the size of settlement area and the size of cells of sampling considerably will simplify implementation of new projects in a working environment of Sonnet.
A number of improvements is made in the editor of topology. The simplified creation and editing diagonal polygons is implemented, fast editing objects using transfer of end faces and tops is entered, setup of boundary region, an exciting circuit is improved, illumination of the selected object is added.
