WD Sentinel RX4100

WD, division of Western Digital company complemented in the spring of 2013 the offer in product segment for small and medium business with the rack WD Sentinel RX4100 server in a form factor 1U.

Connection

Together with WD Sentinel RX4100 of the company of small and medium business receive uniform secure storage location for all the documents and digital data. Despite simplicity of installation and setup, the server has functionality which is characteristic of solutions of industrial level, in particular, it supports the different RAID modes, automatic server backup and recovery, reservation of a power supply and network communications and also has the built-in network attached storage and the iSCSI SAN interface for the virtualized network environments.

WD Sentinel is the full-function solution ensuring safety of information for the small and medium enterprises. WD Sentinel RX4100 is delivered with the R2 Essentials Microsoft Windows® Storage Server 2008 operating system and the software supporting backup for 25 client networked PCs running Windows and Mac OS. The server is configured for work in the RAID 5 mode and completed with the hard drives WD which differ in an optimal combination of high reliability and performance.

Processes of backup are completely automated and allow to do both the complete copy of an initial system status, and additional archiving with the subsequent recovery of separate files. Computers under control of Mac OS can work with WD Sentinel RX4100 using the Time Machine® utility. In case of data loss or failure of WD Sentinel executes search and recovery of the separate lost files or all image of a system, including OS, applications, data and settings.

Joint work

WD Sentinel RX4100 plays a role of the reliable centralized "local cloud storage" which by means of the web browser provides universal shared access to data for all regular and freelance employees of the company, regardless of their current location and type of the terminals used by them. Besides, directly functions of third-party network service of recovery after KeepVault accidents are built in a control interface of the server. Thus, owners of this system get all advantages of a local separate cloud solution in total and also a possibility of safe storage of crucial business information in remote storage.

The WD Sentinel RX4100 server is compatible to different operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and also Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion.
