"To us it was necessary not only to receive a single system for the business analysis, but also to upgrade analytical infrastructure. For example, earlier data were available only in a relational form. There was no multidimensional analytical online processing on the basis of cubes of data (MOLAP), and it limited opportunities for data compression and access rate to them. Besides, processes of data collection were not automated at all, – Torsten Kluein, the manager of Competence Center of a business intelligence of Heraeus noted. – Using the Microsoft SQL Server platform we solved these problems and improved our system of a business intelligence, its performance, reliability, availability and integration into other solutions of the company. It allowed us to understand better business and to find new ways of its development".

For May 31, 2013 the data warehouse of the Microsoft SQL Server contains about 3 Tbyte of data and works on two servers within a failover cluster. One of servers loads data from ERP systems and saves in relational tables while on other server the analytical cube is generated.
Once a day about 30 Gbytes of data are transferred from the accounting systems of the company to the data warehouse. Access to it is got on average at the same time by 100 users. In peak working hours this number increases up to 500.
